Let's go RED!
Re: Ohio State @ Wisconsin 1/11 - 1/12
It was late......Here's a full game recap. (for the record, we were sitting behind the goal, which put Rigsby in front of us for the frist and third periods, not a great spot to watch, but the kids like it down there, so I don't have a great perspective on some of the goals.) OSO dominated the first period in thanks to 3 pp's that more than anything didn't allow UW to get any flow going. They did a real nice job with puck posession, it seemed like UW was chasing the puck the whole period. OSU didn't end up with a ton of great chances, however, but they did outshoot UW 9-3. The second period was more even, UW ended up evening up the shots on goal by the end of the period and scored on a scrum in front of the net. I will note the refereeing was horrific, there was probably 4 legit calls that could have gone against OSU but were not called, pretty ridiculous after they get 3 pps in the first. The 3rd period had more bad refereeing in OSU's favor to start, but Decker chipped the puck around the d at the point and blazed down the ice for a sh goal. OSU scored on a tight angled back door rebound that just caught the goal inside the far post as the OSU skater was going away from the goal, a nice shot. UW's 3rd goal was also a sh, Kelter scored on off some furious action in OSU's end. Finally a UW player got tackled/tripped and it was so blatant it had to be called, but UW did note convert. UW did convert after a slash call later on, I do not recall the circumstances of the goal, other than it was a ppg. UW ended up outshooting OSU 32-24 after being outshot 9-3 in the 1st, which is indicative of UW playing stronger as the game went on. UW outshot OSU @ even strength 29-16. The obvious tipping point was UW's 2 sh goals and not allowing OSU a ppg in the 3rd when the game was hanging in the balance. We were so hoping OSU would pull the sieve and let UW get a 5th goal so we could get free ice cream, but, alas, they didn't.
Congrats on the Friday win.
That said, the fact that the score made you smile isn't exactly a news flash. Anything more substantive to share?
