The weekly thread is a better spot for this question than the league thread. The team thread would also have been a good choice. But that wasn't why I was a little slow to answer. Having no inside info on personnel decisions, the reply seemed like it could wait until a more convenient time.
Again, no inside info. But some things to keep in mind:
1. Obviously the 4th line forwards saw meaningful ice time during both games. So it was likely pre-ordained that 12 forwards were going to dress for both. Sometimes we suit up 11 forwards and 7 defenders. That configuration makes it a little easier for a 'D' to crack the line-up. Conversely, the 12 & 6 configuration makes it a little tougher.
2. Cara Zubko didn't play Friday against RIT but did play in the rematch. When I saw Cara in the lobby line-up Saturday, I thought Madison might be suited up as well. But clearly that wasn't the case. Again, some simple math is at work. With Cara taking one of the six available 'D' slots, that made it a little tougher for Madison to get in the line-up.
3. The above notwithstanding, Madison could be nicked up, with only those "in the room" in the know.
IIRC, Madison did not play in the Friday Wisconsin game, but was in the line-up for the rematch on Saturday.
