Ohio State vs Minnesota State 10/23 - 10/24

Re: Ohio State vs Minnesota State 10/23 - 10/24

I believe she was the first (only?) girl to play in the boys HS tournament, and also the first (only?) to record a point, an assist.

Sorry but wrong, Kim Hanlon goalie from Edina. She was there for Willard Ikola's team andshe did play. She played at Hamline and St. Thomas colleges.

Is there more than one goalie by the name of Kim Hanlon in Minnesota?

Assuming knight7's post about a Kim Hanlon playing for Edina's Willard Ikola is correct, then yes there does appear to be more than one Minnesota goalie by that name. Ikola ended his coaching career in 1991, and this article shows that a Kim Hanlon from Blaine committed to play for the Gophers starting with the 2005-06 season:

You are thinking of Jennifer Hanley.

Re: Ohio State vs Minnesota State 10/23 - 10/24

Congratulations to Jenny Potter on her first WCHA win!

Thanks Puckdrop14! It was actually an entertaining game. I apologize to the Minnesota State fans here, but ohiostatebuckeyes.com does not yet have a story or a box score up yet, so I am not sure who scored the Mavericks' goals. Minnesota State came to play tonight and jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Buckeyes were resilient, though, scoring five of the next six goals to win 5-3. The Buckeye goals were scored by junior forward Claudia Kepler (2), senior forward Kendall Curtis, senior defenseman Cara Zubko, and freshman forward Maddy Field. Senior goaltender Stacy Danczak got the win for Ohio State. The two teams wrap up their series tomorrow with game time at 1:07 pm EST.

Emily Antony and Corbin Boyd, both freshmen, had the MSU goals.

The best Division I live game tracking across the country is at http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1516/ncaa_w_mobile. It sometime locks up or has errors, but it's accurate 95% of the time. I'm constantly monitoring it for other game scores while I'm at Gopher games, and it provides not only the goal list but a full live box score and penalty details.

Thank you for the tip, Dave!

Ohio State finished the sweep today, winning by a final score of 4-0. In today's game, it was the Buckeyes who came out firing, scoring all four of their goals in the first period. Admittedly, the girls let their foot off the gas in the second and third period and know they need to work on that. Scoring was done by sophomore forward Lauren Spring (2), senior defenseman Cara Zubko, and sophomore defenseman Dani Sadek. Sophomore goaltender Alex LaMere got the shutout for the Buckeyes. Ohio State outshot the Mavericks 40-17 with a majority of MSU's shots on goal coming on a couple of 5-on-3 power plays. Aside from those power plays, the Buckeye D didn't allow many shots on goal for the Mavericks. Ohio State has a bye week next weekend to rest up and heal some bumps and bruises, then they welcome Bemidji State to Columbus on 11/6 and 11/7.

The Three Stars for Saturday's game are now up on the WCHA thread. Brace yourself for the explosion!

Thank you Pgb for your Three Stars! I look forward to those after every home game, win or lose! :)

You're very welcome; thank you for the feedback. Glad you read them, regardless of the result. But it's admittedly just a little more fun when the Buckeyes achieve the "win" option.;)

sorry, but you are wrong, very, very, wrong

Ike's goalie never made it to the HS state tournament, her Edina team was defeated by Darby Hendrickson's Richfield team.
BTW, the cake eaterz didn't take the loss well, they started fighting :(
and you also got the wrong goalie, it wasn't Hanlon, it was Jenny Hanley who went on to coach Burnsville's girls team a few years
Amber Heglund was the first girl to appear in the HS tournament, and she also was the first to get a point

I don't know if another girl has played in the tournament, or registered a point, but you people obviously don't know either
