Re: Ohio State Next Coach?
Darn, we need to pay Jackie Barto more money. She's on the verge of really building something special with the women's program.
Thanks for the clarification. I saw the $166K figure on the Miami board, so I should have assumed it was wrong.
Regarding my earlier disagreement with you, I don't think the gulf was that big. My point was that any Miami person, whether in this thread or to you last weekend, that's saying Ohio State was contacting Miami assistants before even firing Markell is being absurd. If a current assistant--whether at Miami or elsewhere--is the best choice that's one thing. Rushing out to hire an assistant before even firing the existing coach, however, would be "settling" of the highest degree, and that's not how one of the richest athletic departments in the country should conduct business.
As for Blasi, I've stated the chances are slim to none that we'd get him. What I want is for Blasi or someone of his stature to be considered, to be contacted and to be offered. I don't want to go straight for the assistants as if we have no other options. If, at the end of the day, that's the best direction for the program, or even the best we can do, fine. Make the decision and move forward, but I want all options pursued. The AD owes it to the program.
