Question For St. Thomas Fans: Are people really calling St. Thomas athletes "the Toms" these days? Was surprised to hear the play-by-play guy refer to them that way.
At least they're not called The Tomettes.

The Tomcats?
I expect it's like calling Ohio State "the Bucks" every now and then.

Of course. But that's been common parlance for as long as I can remember!Hockeybuckeye said:Our chant is indeed Go Bucks!
Ohio State took care of business in Bemidji earlier tonight by a final score of 9-1. Ohio State scored three goals in the first two minutes of this one and never looked back. Ohio State got first period goals from Jocelyn Amos, Delaney Fleming, and Sloane Matthews to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. It was all Buckeyes in the second period as Ohio State added four more goals, two each from Joy Dunne and Kiara Zanon, to take a 7-0 lead. The Beavers got a late goal from Kayla Santi to make the score 7-1 at the final intermission. Ohio State added two more goals in the third period. Joy Dunne would complete the hat trick and the final goal was scored by Sofie Lundin to make the final score 9-1. The Bucks outshot the Beavers 49-13 in this one. Ohio State netminders Raygan Kirk and Quinn Kuntz combined to stop 12 of the 13 shots they faced in the win. Beaver backstop Abbie Thompson stopped 40 of the 49 shots she faced. The teams will conclude their series tomorrow at 4:00 pm EST (3:00 pm CST).
Good to see #10 Buglioni got some playing time. Hopefully she continues to heal.

Quite a weekend for Dunne Version 4.0!
I only saw the 2nd game. But her 4th Goal on the weekend was a beauty. Joy blew through the Bemidji 'D' on a dynamic rush up the right side, cut across the slot, then beat the Bemidji goalie blocker side. Filippova is a good keeper, but Dunne made it look easy.
Absolutely! I am thinking Joy will get WCHA Rookie of the Week after the weekend she had!
ohiostatebuckeyes.com said:Freshman Joy Dunne and sophomore Emma Peschel of the Ohio State women's hockey team earned WCHA weekly awards, the conference announced Monday. Dunne is the league's Rookie of the Week and Peschel earned Defender of the Week honors following the Buckeyes' sweep of Bemidji State.
Dunne led the Buckeyes with six points and four goals against Bemidji State to earn her first career WCHA weekly award. The WCHA Preseason Rookie of the Year tallied both her first career goal and first career hat trick in Friday's 9-1 win over the Beavers, the league's third hat trick of the year. Her hat trick was the first by a Buckeye freshman since the 2017-18 season. The O'Fallon, Mo. added an assist in Friday's game to end the day with a team-best four points and finished the weekend +5 and tallied the Buckeyes' lone power play goal of the series.
We're into the bye week and hopefully we'll be fully rested and healed for what will be the most important and anticipated home series of the season hosting the Badgers.
I think it will be extremely intense and physical as it's being called The Revenge Series. I actually have two deer hunting buddies wanting to attend knowing the atmosphere will be awesome! If we can earn the home sweep I would see no reason for us not to regain the number one ranking.
