just because this is far from OSU's best hockey team there is no reason for this thread to sink to the bottom of page three.:D

That game last night was ugly and that is an understatement. They keep making the same mistakes every game. The backside is always open in the defensive zone if i can see it the other team has to see it and begs the question as to why they have not fixed it? They dont pass the puck very well at all hardly ever tape to tape. Still dont handle pressure very well especially on the forecheck. This is hard to watch after the strides this program made last year. Its hard to blame any of the goalies for last night although the 2nd goal Frey should have had. It is very obivious that this team has no one ice leader. They better get one and fast. They have a while to let this loss stew before Mercyhurst on Jan 2. Things better change or this season will be a lost one. I thought they quit after the 5th Michigan goal. To give up 8 goals is bad enough but when 5 of them are PP goals that is awful. Undisciplined hockey will get you beat every time. That headbutt by Oddo was really stupid it cost them a player and 2 goals. I dont know what else to say but hope this is rock bottom for the season and everything goes up from here.

Unless you have impact freshman, it is tough to replace players like Dzingel and McCormick who signed over the summer.

I wish Rohlik and Exter cared less about their hair.

Yes they are missing the scoring from those 2 guys but i really believe that they are missing Gedig more than people think.

Couldn't agree more on all points! If this coaching staff and team don't figure things out soon, we'll finish last in the league.

Totally agree if this dont get going upwards and fast they will finish last. I watched Wisconsin on Friday night when i got home and they are just as bad as Ohio State right now.

Anyone heading to Erie this weekend for Ohio State's games vs Mercyhurst? Mrs 86 and I are not going to be able to go, but what can I say, this thread has been buried on page three, so I decided to bump it. I read that the games are being played at Erie Insurance Arena. For those who may not be familiar, that is where the Erie Otters of the OHL play. It holds 6,500 and they just completed some renovations in September of 2013. Mrs 86 and I were there for the NCAA Women's Frozen Four in 2011 before the renovations.

I'll be there driving the dream machine between periods. I will also be in State College the following week. I'm hoping the state of PA has a good 2 weekends against your Buckeyes.

Nice job by the Bucks this weekend, getting a 6-3 win Friday night and a come-from-behind 2-2 tie earlier today vs Mercyhurst.

One other thing tonight, for any OSU fans who would like to take a bus trip to Michigan State, we still have 20 seats left that we would like to fill! The cost is only $35 (this includes the ticket and the transportation)! We're taking off from Value City Arena, but we are making a stop in Toledo for any northwest Ohio fans who want to go along! Big series in Hockey Valley this weekend. What are everyone's thoughts? I think we can get one, but I don't know if we will sweep. PSU has been playing some decent hockey this season. In fact, the Lions are currently in first place in the BIG Ten.

A split is much more realistic for this weekend. The one thing i want to see going forward is this team grow up and handle adversity when it comes up during games. Looking back at the first half of the season they have not been able to regroup themselves when things go wrong during the game. They must play better team defense in their own zone as well. Way to many break downs especially covering the back side. To many times in games i have seen the back side is left open and most teams will take advantage of that. It is pretty obvious scoring is going to be a weakness of this team. If that is the case they have to start getting to the dirty areas and score when the chances arrive. Everything is still in front of them but do they want it and are they willing to work hard enough to achieve it?

You called it on the split. After taking a 4-0 lead last night, the Bucks let in four goals in the third period and had to go into OT to win it. Today they were beaten 4-1. I didn't read the recap yet, so I don't know the particulars, but the Bucks ended up splitting in Hockey Valley.

Last night was typical of this team. The passing was terrible and turnovers cost them all night long. No real pressure towards the net expect a few times. Made it way to easy for Penn State. They gave up 2 goals 50 seconds a part to make it 3-1 and never recovered. Weis missed on a breakaway chance late in the 2nd which could have changed the game.The PP was terrible way to many passes and then a shot goes wide Penn State clears and they have trouble getting back in. The only goal was on a 5 on 3. Tough game coming Friday against a very hot Michigan game who just swept Minnesota. They havent beat Michgian since Nov 2011

On to Beat Michigan Week! they will have to play much better than they did at Penn State this past weekend if they are going to stand any chance of beating a Red Hot Michigan team.

No question about it, Michigan just swept Minnesota! OTOH, Michigan is only 1-5 on the road this season, so we have a shot. Having said that, as you alluded to earlier, we have not beaten this team since November of 2011 when we actually went up to AA and got a sweep. IIRC, that was the only time we have ever swept Michigan at Yost.

No they actually swept them in 1989 i believe
