Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

Stole your title from last year Hammer. I think it's good enough to be the yearly title.

I must have completely ignored ESPN due to the Olympics because I didn't see a single regional championship game on TV.

It looks like dropped third strikes are finally in the Little League game now. I hated playing when they weren't, it took a lot of plays away from the game.

Also, Saudi Arabia (really just a bunch of Americans with rich parents were work at an oil company) is not in the tournament for the first time in forever. Instead Uganda will be repping MiddleEast/Africa. Uganda won last year but visas were denied because the birth dates were not consistent, so SA took their spot.

So they finally added dropped 3rd strike... About **** time they did... Maybe sometime in the next 20 years Little League will catch up to the kind of baseball that the rest of the 12 year olds in the world play (and the kind that all of the kids in the LLWS when they play for their travel teams, outside of their LL games).... Beef the bats up to 2 5/8" barrels, back the bases off to 70', the mound back to 50', and allow leadoffs....

They're 12, not 14. The next level (Ripken / Babe Ruth / Senior LL) has all that. For LL keep the bases @ 60' but move the fences back to 250 (they're @ 225 now). Those metal bats need a bigger field.

Then we'll hear ESPN whine about how there's not enough scoring. After all, they threw a hissy fit about instant replay...

Uganda plays at 5, and will be the first African team in the LLWS. Yesterday the anchors were saying that they are so used to playing barefoot that some kids didn't practice in the new cleats they got for the tournament because they hurt their feet too much.

Re: Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

Uganda's only down 2-0 in the 2nd, but they're really playing with fire.

Re: Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

I thought they would be totally inept and look like they never played before like the European teams usually do. They have good pitching, but don't really know how to run routes and fielding is lacking a bit. If they can start hitting and the ump stops making the strike zone a foot outside the plate then they'll have a chance.

Edit: Well, after that they're looking a lot like the European teams. 4-0 now on the error.

Re: Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

This umpire has a horrible strikezone. Just because Panama's pitcher doesn't like to pitch inside doesn't mean you move the strikezone a foot off the plate.

Re: Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

Uganda loses 9-3, but had a giant home run in the final inning. Uganda plays tomorrow against Mexico at 6pm. If they get their fielding in order I feel like they have a shot, but the bats need to wake up too.

Re: Official Watch 12 Year Olds Cry- LLWS 2012

Japan and Chinese Taipei. Apparently they're telling batters which pitch is coming, or location. 12 year olds are apparently pitch-tipping now.

The kid at the plate is 5-8 and 195. I don't think he's going to need much help on either front.
