Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

In other news, despite claiming I was beyond MMO's - I've started playing Rift. It's actually pretty freaking fun, and so far I haven't come across any issues playing it only casually (~hour/day or less). Of course I have yet to hit the first raiding instance, so we'll see how it goes once I get that far.
If it wasn't literaly a WoW clone I would probably try it out.

I still have never played WoW, but I did play warhammer. This seems like a vastly improved version of that.

The basic intent behind Rift is to copy WoW but go grimdark graphics and improving on some of the issues it has. If you're playing Rift you're playing WoW with different graphics, that's how similar they are. Many of the spells even have the same cooldown as the ones in WoW.

As frustrating as I find the way a lot of tools play FIFA online, there's something really satisfying about beating an all-star team having a bunch of England and Italy and Germany internationals with my squad of bronze Americans. :)

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

My winning streak is up to 14 on FIFA online :)

I've finally figured out how to beat very skilled opponents, I put in an extra CDM and run a 4-5-1. I've been using the Red Bulls lately, running Miller-Ream-Tainio-Albright in the back, with Tchani-Marquez as the CDMs then Lindpere-Henry-Richards as the mids with Agudelo up top. Haven't given up a goal in 4 games.

Despite some minor things I wish were different, Dragon Age II is a lot of fun.

I am only missing 5 unlockables. 4 of which I can get just from getting further in the Facebook game Dragon Age Legends. The other 1 is the code from Dead Space 2.

I've complete most of the quests in Kirkwall in the first part of the game. I think i am at 45g, and need 50g to start the Deep Roads part of the game. My lead character is at level 10 (rogue).

Same thing pretty much, although at that point I easily had enough gold. Level 10 and about 80g. Went into the Deep Roads and found out the hard way that I hate the fact they make you take that stiff of a crossbow dwarf with you on that trip. I like to take two mages with and I'm a rogue. So, I did it that way but there's a nasty in there that can't be beaten without a tank. A two handed warrior probably have issues as well. Aveline should be able to tank it though. So, I'll have to leave a mage behind.

I'm on the last boss of the Deep Roads and he's annoying. No tanking involved, a bunch of running, ranged attacks, healing, rinse/repeat.

Total time sink as the fight takes forever.

I think I counted 4 boss fights before him (spoiler: spider, ogre, dragon, abomination) .

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Saw this posted on MMO Champion and it's **** impressive, a death knight solo'ing Yogg Saron. Even with a full group of 10 at the new max level this fight is rather difficult due to the mechanics that will wreck your day. (Based off percentages or stacking rather than a flat amount of damage)

Scored a working Dead Space 2 code today, so I should be able to get them all now. Kind of a pain, but what's done is done. :)

Not happy with the way the Deep Roads ended. Not happy at all.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Saints Row: The Third is previewed in this months Game Informer. It sounds like its going to be full of awesome. Upgradable weapons this time around.

Of course, its not coming out until 2012...

Wha? You didn't like being betrayed, or something else?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I'm about to star the final mission in DA2. I will have to go through another play through for sure to get quests that weren't available to me due to choices made in this game and in DA:O. I also never recruited Isabella, so I will have to do that.

I am bit annoyed at some of the bugs in the game though.

1) None of The Exiled Prince achievements worked.
2) I defeated the High Dragon but it won't let me loot it. So I miss out on the last Herbalist task being initiated, a key crafting ingredient, and some weapons/armor.
3) The quest "Who Needs Rescuing?" will not initiate. There is a person just standing on the beach in Wounded Coast, but he has no label and can not be interacted with in any way.
4) One of the interactions with Merill in her personal quest chain talks about a task that you do AFTER having talked to her, so it makes no sense and it ruins the event in a way.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Beat DA2 for the first time. Played on 'hard' for about 90% of the game. There were a few major fights where I turned down the difficulty in order to progress after taking a few shots at them. I'd rather advance the game then be stuck and frustrated.

Time to start a 2nd play through and pick an alternate route so I get some of the quests and companions I missed. Although I am hesitant to pick up Isabella as apparently there is a bug with her once you gain some friendship. Patch please!

What system are you playing it on? I have it on 360 and so far I haven't noticed any bugs to speak of. Granted, I'm probably only about halfway through, but so far it all seems to be working fine.

I wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but after opening up all of Kirkwall, it's been great. Only "complaint" I might have is that I'm not really sure what's going on as far as the greater story as a whole. In DAO, after you become a Grey Warden, it's pretty obvious what you're trying to accomplish in the grand scheme of things. In DA2, I have an inkling, but if they've been building up to it, it's pretty subtle. That, and the elves look kinda funky in this one :p

Is the Facebook game worth it? I've never been much for games on Faceook, but I really like the Dragon Age series, so I might be willing to give it a shot. Is it much of a time sink?
