That sort of makes me sick (and Skyrim is the one game I've been looking forward to this year)

Diablo III Beta went public today. *drool*
If by public you mean the small amount of people they gave beta keys to. Hint hint blizzard you ****tards. (They just roflstomped the latest WoW raid with no actual date set for when the last raid comes out. (And it's only going to be another ~6 boss one blah) The new dungeons look like fun. Little bit of epic scenery.

Well, yeah, "public" beta :D

Those are impressive images to say the least. Are those from WoW or D3?

Wow, from the dungeon that lets you go into the future where Deathwing succeeds. There are two other dungeons that have a storyline lead up to the last raid.

Ah. I never got into WoW or any of the other MMOs. There's something about paying for a game to install it and then pay monthly to play it that I just don't get.

So what's the verdict on NHL 12? Did anyone even buy it?

FIFA 12 comes out next week. I haven't bought a FIFA game in ages.

Also, the CD Projekt has a conference tomorrow about The Witcher 2. They are releasing a 2.0 patch for it with new features. Some highlights:

- Tutorial - New, more comprehensive tutorial that will allow players to slowly get familiar with the world of the game.

- Dark Mode - a brand new difficulty level designed for everyone who's looking for a fresh challenge. This mode also comes with a special set of dark-themed items to go along with it.

- Arena Mode - the arcade style mode where players fight countless waves of enemies in order to achieve the highest score, and later boast about it on specifically designed leaderboards. Be sure to watch this segment to see the new opponent that's being introduced to the game with version 2.0!

They also will talk about the adaptation they are bringing to XBOX.

Steams weekend sale is big savings (50 - 90% off) on SEGA titles. Too many to list, but an example:

Alpha Protocol - $2.00 (-90%)
Aliens vs Predator - $4.99 (-75%)
SEGA Genesis Classic Collection - $7.49 (-75%)
Dreamcast Collection - $7.49 (-75%)

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

The Witcher 2 (DRM-Free) had a permanent price drop to $39.99 on Gog.com. Also comes with free bonus content.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So for $7.50, I can get full versions of the games listed in the SEGA Genesis Collectors Pack? That ain't a bad gig... Just have to pick up a controller for the laptop if that is the case...

The games are always full versions as far as I've seen.

SEGA Collector's Pack is $79.99
SEGA Genesis Classic Collection is $7.49

Just to be sure you knew which one you were getting.

FIFA 12 releases today.

Bring Sheffield Wednesday to glory! Oh wait, you want to play as Man U? Figures.

ETA: and it is now in my grubby (they are clean actually) hands (for PS3). Is it time to go home yet? :D

Played my first game of FIFA 12 after years of not playing FIFA games. Started at beginner obviously.

Blackburn vs Burnley. Went down 3-0 early, got 1 back just before half. Came all the way back to take the lead 4-3 in the 84th minute. Only to give up a goal right at the end. Ended as a 4-4 draw, but was good fun.

Having not played in a while, you may actually be at an advantage. I know I was terrible with the new defending in the demo having gotten so used to how it's been for so long.

Won't get to pick up a copy of the game until Monday though.

Things I am not good at in FIFA 12:

- Controlling where my shot goes. Way over the bar or a slow dribbler.
- Getting corner kicks to go in the air, instead of straight to the first defender.
- Beating the goalie one-on-one. Always kicks straight to him.

Otherwise i just need to let my hand learn the buttons, so I don't have to guess at what I am pressing. Also learning when and how the lob pass is effective.

Most of my goals have been when I break free down one wing and 2nd player trails down the middle. Simple pass towards the middle and its a tap in goal 95% of the time. High quality teams (Barca) defend this much better.

Seperately, I did buy 2 packs of gold cards for my Ultimate Team since I had some leftover money in my PSN wallet. Ended up getting Miroslav Klose as my main striker and Carlton Cole as my other. :D

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Was reading some pre-reviews on Dark Souls (Oct 4th). Looks like it is going to be fantastic. Instead of having a hub world like in Demon Souls, there is just one large world. Although it sounds like there will be some 'zoning' as you go from area to area.

Bonfires are used as camps to replenish supplies, level up, rest, and respawn from death. Apparently, you buy upgrades to what things you can do while at camp. Dying or resting respawns all enemies. So that path you just cleared... it ain't clear no more. :D

The game still features the bloodstains and ghosts of other players. Also it sounds like they have added to the feature of invading other peoples worlds. Such as if someone comes and kills a key npc in your game, you will be offered the chance to invade their world. I believe this gives you some kind of bonus if successful.

The bosses look large. There was a photo of a Gaping Dragon on one of the reviews. So it should be as satisfying as ever once you finally overcome a boss who has been killing you for 2 hours.
