well last night and cannot fault him for the goals, and he came up big in the shoot out,he looks more relaxed for sure than the first few starts,Gilbert will have to work hard to get that spot back at this point, but it is a long season and there are 15 games or so remaining.WOW we looked vewry good on the forecheck, and we had the third man high most of the time to avoid the oddman rush.Neal and Botten are very good and Montagna has seemed to find his grove in the past few games and seems to be playing well.I think if galati and Hush were in the line-up last night they may have made as difference as they are snipers and oz had many chances, could have used them, but if they are hurt gotta rest them.Rags played well, but made a few ugh passes in the dzone NBD.i think Scott adds some size and he has a cannon for a shot.barton looks to be the best of the draws, very good.carr looks to need more time to get back into the swing of things, several bad passes and a offensive zone penalty.I think we need to get little tougher in front of our net as well,as few times in the tounry Zman was crashed,as a former dman i didnt allow thatbakdraft, I would say Z has done a pretty good job at cementing himself as the number 1 goalie in oz wouldn't you agree? He made some huge saves early in the Curry game and was very good when called upon against Utica.
This group has now played three ranked teams and has two ties and they got crushed by Geneseo. Last years squad with all the upperclassmen did nothing but lose to ranked teams not named Geneseo until the playoffs. These guys love to work and they do a really good job at taking care of the front of the net. If they can get just a few more of those dangerous scrambles that they had so many of against Platty and Utica to find the back of the net I think they are a contender right now, maybe not to win it all but certainly in the SUNYAC.
dont think I ever saw Sneller lift his stick above his waist it was a fast snap and the goalie was getting a tan from the red light, same with Fitty. As i said I think galati and hush would have made a difference, they both have that fast snap shot, and seem to be very accurate,now-a-days the players love the 1 timer/slapshot,it is what it isA very good hustle game for the lakers and unfortunately they had to settle for a tie which is better than a loss. Big hustle all around and "Z" play well. The only thing I will say and this will go for all of the games I have seen so for is that there are no more sippers out there. Both teams last night missed WIDE OPEN nets. I honestly believe that the hard wrist shot and sweet shop are not utilitized enough anymore and are shot incorrectly. I was fortunately enough to see some of the greatest scorers of DIII, (Dan Brown, Shane Ferris and his brother, Mike Snell, Sean Fitzgearald and others) and they all had a great shot and most of the time it was not the slap shot. The art of shooting is disappearing. Friday I watched the Potsdam/St. Anslem game and that was the case there.
I would like to know what others think of the ability of putting the puck in the net from others??
i blame Steve Levy for thatThe big, dramatic "one-timer" is a product of SportsCenter in the '90's when guys like Mario Lemieux would slam dunk one every so often. Nowadays it's the shot of choice for most kids. I'll bet it doesn't work any more than 10% of the time, if that. The players of the 80's and 90's were clearly not as fast, not as big and could not skate like they can today. But the were HOCKEY PLAYERS. Tough, a little dirty and so much more creative than the players of today. There, I said it....now I need a nap.
A guy on Curry got 5 and a game for hitting from behind and another got it for contact to the head against Stout and both were very borderline calls. It almost seems like they are putting too much emphasis on that kind of stuff which has let the clutching and grabbing slow the game down like it was in the mid 90's.
FYI game vs. Utica is in 5 days would not want you to miss itThey was about an evenly matched contest as you will see; everything being equal except the SOG which appeared to be given the homer treatment. Right about the shooting, no one from OZ is going to sniper school, they are still learning and Utica is more talented here. OZ grinds with a good goal tending. Rematch in two weeks should be a good one.

Watching the BCS and checking some stats to ponder...did you know only 8 of the current roster have played in all ten games? Further, when was the last time we didnt have a scorer in the top 50 after the break? OZ has 5 guys with 10 points each to lead the way, yet we are 10th in the country in offense. Lastly this young team is unusually disciplined, very predestrian 38 minutes of penalties so far.
nailed itI'm betting the penalty situation will remain the same with this large group of players. I imagine if someone takes foolish penalties, they will be replaced in the line up, and may have a hard time getting back on the ice with the talent waiting for their opportunity.
looks to be a pretty good balance of scoring, and the fact that not many have played in all the games may keep them fresh, also coach G seems to roll all 4 lines most of the games, again fresh guys for a aggressive forecheck.could really help in the long run?Watching the BCS and checking some stats to ponder...did you know only 8 of the current roster have played in all ten games?
