At this point wouldn't even be worried about matching up with them. This is a season where you look at it one game at a time. No looking ahead whatsoever with this group.

Yeah.... This is painful to watch. Do we have someone with the record books to let us know when the last time was Oswego let up 7 goals?

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

I checked. It was in November of 2004 that Oswego last let in 7 goals. Ironically, in a game against Geneseo in which they lost 7-6. Sigh....

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Awareness is the key word of the night. The d was not aware that there was a game going on at some points. Too many turnovers in the neutral zone and elsewhere. Overall bad bad game.

One game at a time...

Great post! This is a young team, still learning, this is going to happen game to game. I believe Genny is a "good" team, and this is the first time Oswego has seen it this year. It will come together, and is going to be great to watch at the end of the year!

I only saw the final score due to family stuff tonight, someone please give the Oswego line-up

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

From looking at the stat sheet as who was on the ice when the teams scored even strengthen this might be coaches fault. The usual D-men pairing look different. Usually Gertsakis/Rivait, Raguseo/Scott and King/Johnson are paired up. It didn't seem to be that way. All the fault may not lie with the D-men. If you only have a week to get to know your new partner, things don't always work. Still early better to learn now than later in the season. Peaking now gets you nowhere. A good learning game for the whole team to include coaches.

I'm pretty sure Rivait and King have been paired up for the last few games, and have no idea who has been paired up with Gertsakis? Wills wasn't dressed tonight?

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

I think the past few games it's been:
Gertsakis-Scott
Rivait-King
Johnson-Wills

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

The D pairs were the same they have been since the Cortland game. Everyone just looked lost tonight including Gilbert, he made some big saves but let up some painfully bad goals. I pretty much expected a loss in this one, as it was there first real test on the road against a good team. They took a few steps backwards tonight but if they rebound with a win tomorrow i will be happy, it shows they can put games like this behind them. They did pretty much dominate the third which was good, they never quit even though things weren't going their way.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

bad game for sure,d looked lost and seemed to lose the puck and fall a lot, also some forwards had the "blew a tire" thing happeneing???? goalies made a few saves after that??? Powerplay was lost first 2x out..genny played well, they learned from their loss tues vs Adrian and didnt give up 1 oddman rush from what i saw.we also missed some up close chances as well...........Brockport is a pretty good team and will be up for Oz tonight, watch out....as for matching up vs. Platty ... we dont. nor Freddy, nor genny at this point..lets try bport tonight

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Oswego had at least four odd-man rushes. Botten had a breakaway from the blue line in and stuffed it into Haude's pads. Titanic and Badham both took shots when bot the Goalie and the D took the shooter on a 2 on 1 and Hulshoff got stoned twice on a 2 on 1. They had a lot of chances but when you can't field a pass cleanly all night and give the puck up under the slightest bit of pressure, you are not going to win a lot of hockey games.

i was pretty much comparing it to the Adrian game when genny gave up 2 on o's and 3-1's all game, yes we had big trouble finishing as well, our passing was off,as this was a pretty good team, perhaps the speed of this game was a fraction faster than the games b4 and this threw off timing?? anyway u look at ti we were off dmen gave the puck up,we couldnt finish, and the goalies didnt come to the rescue.........bport tonight,no pushover for sure,I think it will be a 1 goal game.,,,,any word on Badhams leg, looked pretty bad ???

The initial report I heard on Badham was a high ankle sprain and he pretty much couldn't walk on it.

The ice didn't look too good at all. I was there and players from both teams were going down completely on their own way more than usual. At one point early in the third period the officials and ice crew lifted a broken or chipped piece of ice big enough that it required two hands to pick up off the ice next to the Oswego bench and just inside the blue line.

ok then,we had soooo many players falling down out of the blue, and the passes were not connecting,no excuse as the ice was/is the same for both teams...we move on,hope we get 2 pts tonight or the bus trip home will be silent I would imagine..

ok, i thought it may b a bad knee injury,I know the high ankle sprain can be bad in football, never had 1 in hockey so not sure?? Hope hes back soon.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

That is not official, it could be a knee or something else, I didn't get any official word. Jon Whitelaw missed a lot of time last season with a high ankle sprain so it can be a tough injury.

Also, the one PP goal Oswego got was a real nice play which was finished off by Andrew Barton for his first career goal. Mike Montagna showed some flashes of the type of player he can be, Denton King and Chris Waterstreet played real hard all night and Brandon Adams continues have a nose for the net. Nick Rivait is the only Laker veteran that is playing like it at the moment especially if Badham is out for any period of time.
