OFFICIAL Miami Redhawks Offseason 2013: We ate a jellyfish

Re: OFFICIAL Miami Redhawks Offseason 2013: We ate a jellyfish

Not much to talk about this summer, but thought this was worth mentioning. Personal seat licenses coming to Goggin.

While I'm sympathetic to how this may impact some long time, dedicated ticket holders, my personal sentiment is about **** time. Unlike some schools (read: B1G) where it's fair to question the implementation of PSLs, there is no ambiguity about it in Oxford, we need the money. Many have been questioning how Miami would absorb the increased travel costs associated with the new conference. Well, here it is.

$125 annually to the R&W Club per ticket
$500 Re-seating fee for the 2014-2015 season.
General ticket price increase

Current season ticket holders have the option of skipping the re-seating fee but will likely be downgraded from whatever seats you currently have. The rumor is this re-seating process will happen every three years or so. I would hope the increased cost will go a long way in fixing the season ticket no-show problem. Raise the price and you will be left with people who are actually going to use them (yes the counter point is raise them too much and the only people who can afford tickets will be those who won't think twice about letting the tickets go unused.)

We have 400 unique season ticket holders and over 600 unique accounts on the wait list, lots of missed opportunity here the last few years.

Curious to hear other opinions on this.

Like it alot if it helps raise funds for the new travel costs that will occur for the program.

This will not cut down on the empty seats. At all. The people that don't come have every right to do with the tickets whatever they want. They bought them. I don't like it either but I purchased my ticket, not their's.

If I have told correctly(the person who buys our block of tickets got the letter, I won't get it until tomorrow), there is NO indication of how many times and how much it will be to re-seat. So they can do it the year after. And the year after. And so on. Plus $125 (or more) for EACH seat (so far). And whatever they want to charge for each game. Probably a premium for North Dakota, Denver U, Colorado College, etc.

Plus the money is to go to the Red and White Club. That is OK for the NCAA?

Don't worry. There won't be a waiting list for long.

Technically true, but with such high demand it is a shame to see season ticket holders only show up to UM or OSU. I'm not saying this new system is the right way to do it, but if it encourages season ticket holders to either use or give up their seats, then we will be better off.

Where ticket revenue goes isn't really the NCAA's concern.

Re: OFFICIAL Miami Redhawks Offseason 2013: We ate a jellyfish

According to the proposal, our group will pay over $1,000 and do you know how many tickets we get out of that. NONE. The repositioning and per seat tax each year money is not ticket revenue. It is an attempt to make up for their oversight.

And I don't think they state what the money is for. So a yearly repositioning is extremely likely. Unless it is not legal. And they can't single out the people who aren't using their tickets, so penalize everyone.

People who get standing room can go down to the empty seats in the first period. And not pay seat tax. Or repositioning fees.

Huge PR blunder. Great way to start as new AD.

Miami has received commitments for the Alger brothers out of Michigan. Alex is a '95 and Austin is a '97.

Unless it is not legal.

I know it sucks, but this is the second time you have mentioned a possible NCAA rule violation/being literally illegal. Where is this coming from, just out of curiosity?

Not hockey related, but RIP Coach Coles. Love and Honor.

"You from Lexington? Ohhh, my lord."

Very sad to see Charlie go. He was unique and a beloved figure around here. The Charlie stories from other coaches and players are hilarious. It is also amazing how all the high-profile coaches are chiming in with praise and Charlie stories. The New York Times also did a story about him. It won't be the same for me or anyone without him around. Services are Thursday at Millett.

I have nothing to contribute, but thought 2 posts in a day might be nice :)

What did we used to talk about in these threads anyways?

Re: OFFICIAL Miami Redhawks Offseason 2013: We ate a jellyfish

News!

Added a tune up game against the U-18s on New Years Eve, nice to see a game there to break up the month off. #saynototheswoon

While there will probably be about 7 people in attendance, it can't hurt to have the kids seeing the facilities as well.
