Sorta makes you think you're drinking fine Scotch, instead of complaining about some cheap-arse beer on a hockey forum. :o

Exactly. Instead of sitting around in sweatshorts and a sleeveless t-shirt drinking some beer that costs $8 for a sixer, you're lounging in an easy chair wearing a smoking jacket while sipping some Johnny Blue and puffing a cigar.

Not that I know about the former or anything. :o

****it... I was just about to hit the post button until I refreshed the Cafe forum and saw you created this. OH well.

And I was about to post a thread myself. :o

Update on my problem homebrew: it's actually starting to taste pretty good, haha. Despite being billed on the recipe as a "cream ale", it's a lot more like Newcastle - sweet, reddish brown and clear, with only a slight head/carbonation and not much hoppiness.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

12 pack of Molson Canadian I bought yesterday for Canada Day.

This is our version of Primo out here. :( I'd rather have real Primo.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

I'll start this thread with a double of Basil Hayden's, neat. :)

Well, who wouldn't? And I like Molson Canadian. True story: one time, while camping nearby, we bought out a liquor store of it. As we all arrived in town throughout the day, we'd stop in, buy a sixer or two. The guy who bought the last of it was asked, "What is it, Canada Day or something? We've NEVER sold more than a 12pack in a day!" (It actually was Canada Day, and we bought out their 5-case supply).

That's the second time in the past week I've heard of this. That good, huh?

It's part of JB's premo collection (Knob Creek/Basil Hayden's/Baker's/Booker's). I'm still divided on whether it's worth its price, but I do recommend getting a little bottle or a shot to try. I'd say that on the rocks, it's probably as smooth as GJ, but with a more assertive/spicier flavor due to the higher proportion of rye in the mash. Neat (which is JB's recommended serving method), it's as fine as some VSOP cognacs, with the rye really coming through in the flavor.

Jim Beam Black and NB Mothership Wit this evening/morning. Can't wait to get to Target tomorrow. :D

1. Still have to try the JB Black, but I'm still wary.
2. Spoken like a true Minnesotan. ;)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

I was at a bar with Jameson and Guinness. I am in a very good mood.

Whenever there's jameson there's johnny jump ups. Easily my favorite "mixed drink" (lacking a better term).

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

This week's new beer (for me):

Dominion sampler 12 pack... 4 varieties... don't feel like digging out all the names of them right now.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

We've got the owl in our fridge. (Bell's Best Brown for those not in the know.)

And I still haven't opened Uncle Matt's BVIP. Just looking for the proper time. Maybe if/when this place sells.

On hand for the weekend:

New Belgium Mothership Wit
Geary New England Porter
Founders Porter
Left Hand Milk Stout
Brau Brothers Cream Stout

Wake me up for work on Tuesday

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

Sipping on some Smirnoff Orange/tonic. Nice light drink in this humid weather.

Yes, I know that it's not the best vodka, but I will say it's very serviceable when mixing with tonic (or Monster). I'd rather not spend the extra $10 for Stoli or Ketel and mix those.;)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: I'm Having A 6-Pack Attack!: Part The Sixth

Picked up some Old Overholt Rye. Yeah, yeah, I know, cheap stuff, but it goes decent with RC Cola. I like the idea of rye, so at some point I'll have to get a better-quality rye whiskey to try.

Also, I found out that Big Top Liquors has Bell's Expedition Stout in singles and in sixers. :D Picked up a single, but I might have to grab a sixer for the winter - it's expensive, but damm it's good stuff. About the consistency of motor oil, very smooth, and very good.

Big Top (aka Sid's; same company) is great.

Tonight: Beer, and then more beer. Don't remember what it all was.

Ditto, except didn't know WHAT they were exactly (BPH's homebrews; neglected to find out the specific kinds).
