Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Instead of regional sites, why not put all 16 teams in one place? You could get Round 1 done in a literal day.

The logistics wouldn't work. Not all teams could get locker rooms, practice time, hotels, etc. It'd be a disaster. Perfect of the Futile Four.

I mentioned this suggestion back in post #6, I still think holding the whole thing at the Silverdome in a day is perfect. The 4th game of the day for the title would be something to (not) see!

It would take one full day for the Round of 16. 8 games x 3 hrs / game = 24 hours.

Then a 4 hr break and we'll start the quarterfinals. It'll be the Death March but the best loser would have earned it!

Put the "rinks" sideways and have two games going simultaneously and right next to each other. Make one of the "rinks" use practice goals and stopwatches.

But here's the genius of my idea, twice as good as FlagDude - since it's an old football stadium it'll fit 4 rinks, right? (or maybe not but who cares!) Put all 4 games going on at once, the first round is done in 6 hours. Take an hour off, play the second round - up to 10 hours. Then another hour off, then the futile four round. One more hour off, then the final game. 18 hours beginning to end! The BFB committee doesn't even need to pay hotels, just have a few cranky old buses ready to bring teams back home when they're done.

Depends on how wide it is. The Carrier Dome did their hockey event using the basketball configuration as it was just wide enough to fit, but some football stadiums round their edges, as they assume soccer (which requires a wider pitch) will never be played there. I believe the Big House (Ann Arbor) does this, and I know the Bills do it, but not sure about the Silverdome. You may only be able to get 3 in there.

Also, why make the final game wait? Just move them to one of the other rinks, you skip an hour wait. ;) Even better, at the Futile Four round, always move the game to a different rink, and use the ice resurfacer (even if it's a dude with a shovel and a hose) while the game is going on.

Suggestion for the ice resurfacer: Grab the one from Union, and get a girl to stand on it and throw T-shirts to the crowd, specifically the one that couldn't get it over the glass.

they can use their bus for a locker room and hotel. as for practice time, if no one gets any, well, its a level playing field, right?

as a homer, I think Copper Harbor is a really bad location and thus perfect. the kids from the one room school house could be put to work to shovel the rink. but that SilverDome option with the games played non stop is intriguing.

Why not just curtain a section and have them change there?

Different ice configurations make it all the more interesting. Just think how great it would be if each ice sheet had a different set of ground rules like in baseball. Maybe even consider taking the boards down between sheets and only use 1 set of refs for 2 games. ohh the possibilities.

the refs could sit up in high chairs, like tennis matches, and do all four games at once!!

Why not just hold the event at the salt dome, it's as big a dump as the other suggestions? :D

What if they didn't come by bus? For example,Air Force parachutes in to earn sky diving merit badge. Or Army comes by Pattonesque tank invasion.

their problem. stitch the parachutes together to make a tent? circle the tanks?

A football field is 160 feet wide? You only have to gain an additional 40 feet. That's 20' on each side. Doable.
Figure each rink is 100' wide to allow do benches and you have plenty of room in a modern football stadium.

One rink has a siren, one rink has a horn, and the third has a train whistle.

Or - horrors! You could use Lake Placid. They have 3 rinks there. 16 teams ought to swamp the entire hotel rooms in the town m
