Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

I do not think so, as UMass has locked up the HEA auto-seed, unless there are still some intricacies to the mysterious FARTS system that I do not understand. Seems that Niagara, Princeton, Wisco, Anchorage, and CC also should be in, as they have locked up their conference auto-seeds. And, if my understanding of FARTS is correct, which is unlikely, it appears that Clarkson has played their way in, replacing Maine for 16th. And, further, RIT remains out because of the 0.500 AHA rule. So, unlike that other tournament, it appears that the BFB conference auto-seeds are determined early, as these teams benefit primarily by their regular season play, which some would argue is what makes the BFB more accountable and truer to the philosophy of the sport.

Man, it's a shame that if they won another game, they'd win a postseason series but still qualify for this tournament.

Once again, ham radio operators will be broadcasting the games on CW, in addition to the traditional carrier pigeons. A more conscious effort will be made to ensure that bands in their "dead" period will be selected.

Supposedly I am a candidate, as my goal call will take enough time to send that by the time I am finished, the other half of the period will be over.

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Lots of surprises, and bound to b e some controversy in this week's FARTS.

1. AIC
2. Niagara
3. Army
4. Princeton
5. Holy Cross
6. Wisconsin
7. Sacred Heart
8. Lake Superior
9. Air Force
10 Alabama-Huntsville
11 Alaska-Anchorage
12 RIT
13 Brown
14 Colorado College
15 Mercyhurst
16 Bentley
17 Canisius
18 Rensselaer
19 Clarkson
20 Massachusetts
21 Connecticut
22 Maine
23 Ohio State

BFB grants auto-bids to the last place teams in each conference: Anchorage, Colorado College, U Mass, Princeton, Wisconsin and Niagara.

Abiding to the long accepted "Atlantic Hockey Rule", teams with a losing percentage below .500 are eliminated from tournament consideration. RIT, Canisius, Bentley and Mercyhurst are, hereby ineligible.

So (if the season ended today) here are your BFB participants. Last week's seedings are in parentheses.

1. AIC (2)
2. Niagara (1)
3. Army (3)
4. Princeton (4)
5. Holy Cross (8)
6. Wisconsin (7)
7. Sacred Heart (5)
8. Lake Superior (10)
9. Air Force (6)
10. Alabama-Huntsville (13)
11. Alaska-Anchorage (12)
12. Brown (15)
13. Colorado College (11)
14. Rensselaer (14)
15. Clarkson (NR)
16. Massachusetts (16)

Clarkson is playing their way in, and RPI is hanging on. Wonder if we could see an RPI vs. Clarkson tilt in the BFB?

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Was worried about UMass--5 OTer effect--fortunate they have HEA autobid:D

Too bad B1G can't get 2 reresentatives:p

If RPI plays their way out, still very improbable that bubble team Ohio State can move up, as they would need to leapfrog over UConn and Maine.

If your aren't gonna play well at the end of the year and make the "other" tourney, you may just as well collapse and end up here! Don't want to play RPI again though, already seen enough of them.

We've seen enough of you guys too. Besides, we will probably both end up being #4 seeds for this tournament so it's unlikely that we'll play each other.

1 more good weekend, and you guys are eliminated, I think; my recollection is that the rule bans any team making their league final weekend. Maybe I'm wrong about that, and maybe it was changed - the rules for this tournament aren't as "finite" as the rules for the other one

If the brackets stay the same, I would think we'd "advance" vs. Army.

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

The last time we beat our former travel partners, I was at the 'tute.

I don't think that Army ever was RPI's travel partner. As I recall after the HEA broke off, RPI was UVM's travel partner and Army was Princeton's. When Union replaced Army, Union became out travel partner.

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

Eager to see FARTS after this weekend. Any moves in the rankings, or is the field all but confirmed?

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

The BFB Bracketology Wiz-Kids, Bryce Master and Simon Bates, have been running multiple scenarios through their Commodore64 for the past sixteen hours in attempts to bring the BFB bracket more clearly into focus.

The Master-Bates team has come to the following conclusions:

1. Wisconsin could miss the BFB if the Badgers win the B1G tournament and the resulting auto-bid to that other tournament.
2. Due to an inferior WOS, Rensselaer could fall out with the right combination of wins from their NC opponents (Minnesota, Michigan, Miami and Denver).
3. None of the 3 BFB contenders still alive in the Atlantic tourney (Canisius, RIT and Mercyhurst) can possibly lose their way back in to BFB eligibility.
4. If Wisconsin should drop out, the B1G auto-bid would be awarded to Ohio State.
5. If Rensselaer should drop out, the numbers seem to favor Connecticut over Maine by a VERY slight margin.

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

I'll cheer on Air Force. IF the location are ever announced. is that part of the tournament this year - to keep attendance down - locations won't be announced until after the games are played?

Re: Official 2015 BottomFeeder Bracketology and Site Selection Thread

The site selection committee has been out on inspection tour for nearly a month, and we have had no contact from them for nearly three weeks. Last we heard they were in Scranton PA boarding a Greyhound bus for bound for Boston.

I still like the idea of a game in Copper Harbor. If it's unreachable and no one will attend, it's perfect for the BFB.
