Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Get your swim trunks ready, the NCAA Tourney is returning to Cincinnati.

(Worcester, Bridgeport, and St. Paul will be the other 2014 regionals.)

Awesome! I will be there among the tens of college hockey fans that will show up.

But seriously, I haven't even been to a cyclones game there and have no idea what the local hockey fan population is like.

Averaged 4,190 over 36 games according to ECHL.com, not that there is any reason for those numbers to translate to a college game, especially accounting for the exorbitant ticket prices associated with NCAA regionals.

I'd like to think a decent number of Miami fans would show up, we are only 45 minutes away ffs. On the other hand we've all come to learn to never count on Miami fans to travel, and there is always a very real possibility that our first season in the NCHC doesn't go so well. If that's the case, then it might get pretty ugly...

Unless OSU wins the B1G and....yeah...I can't finish that sentence. :D

At least this time we won't be hosting at an arena that isn't used to hockey. No more drilling into the pipes under the ice!!!

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

I think our team this year matches up better against Ferris than in previous years, it will still be a tough contest but I think the increase in speed and skill will end up better against a trap than trying to out-muscle them.

I would be very satisfied, also... Ewigleben.

I don't think I'd be satisfied with that. A very young team, yes, but playing away at Michigan is a lot harder than playing at Ferris. Also 4-1-1 against Colgate/Providence/Michigan is better than 2-2-2 against RPI/Mercyhurst/UAF. Better record against better competition. Now let's see if we can beat the trap...

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Welp...

Need a better showing tomorrow. Does anybody know if McKay even traveled? We certainly don't need this long-term injury list to get any longer.

Not so upset that I didn't get a chance to tune in tonight. Just curious- did Greg go crazy when Hagel got a game misconduct and FSU took a 2-minute penalty, or was it well deserved?

I thought the misconduct was overboard, but the penalties were so far away from the play that Hagel might have done something before I noticed. Both players had the other's face mask at that point. Maybe someone else can chime in if you ask in the Ferris thread?

thank you. (Ewaglabeen?) (sp?) has been such a tough place for us to play.

Yes it has, and for some mysterious reason we have to go up there every season...

For those of you who had video, I know save % can sometimes be deceiving, has Williams looked solid in net?

I do like to listen to Dom Henning though. His mannerisms are funny but he is a very good play-by-play, especially for college

Iv'e been out of the loop the last 2 weeks, Would anyone with sufficient information care to update me on the current injury list. I know Mckay is having issues and I'm pretty sure Wideman has mono. Would still like to know any official team-reported diagnosis (Hartman/Paulides/ect)

McKay - Groin/Leg/Something
Wideman - Mono
Hartman - Undisclosed, but apparently he's been walking around in a boot.
Paulides - Just assumed Kennedy has been beating him out.

The only thing that made me feel better when I had mono was sleep and exercise. C'MON Wideman

Ask RicoforPresident about how I was the life of the party when I had mono :D

Kicked my butt for about 3 months, couldn't really do anything physcial without the room spinning for about 5.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Will Miami offer any online streaming video for this weekends NMU series--something you can purchase one game at a time?

If so, a link and whether it's worth it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Miami All-Access

The 1-month pass for $9.95 is the best option (24-hour access is $10.95... I just don't get it.) They provide both a standard definition and (new this year) high definition video feed, but I know several people have had trouble getting the HD feed to work smoothly. If it gives you trouble, try changing the bandwidth option from the automatic setting to one of the lower manual settings.
