Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

All I know is that I'm part of a group of 75 (and counting) young alumni in section 252 and apparently most of the seats around our group have sold out, as well. I'm also aware of at least one other group of 50+ Miami alumni that bought in a block. That's not even counting the tickets in the official Miami section and I'm sure there are several other unofficial blocks and smaller groups that have been purchased independently. Regardless of overall turnout, there should be a very solid Miami contingent.

Planning on Chicago and strongly considering Pittsburgh and Madison.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Sconnie fans starting to beat the fire Eaves drum to the sound of going after Blasi, if Gwoz turns them down of course (Cradle! Cradle!). While I don't pretend to know what Rico's motivations are, I just don't see it, for all the obvious reasons.

However, if you buy that at the end of the day, everything is about money, Eaves is making less on his current deal than Rico, to the tune of $70,000 (most recent base salary number I could find for Eaves). From reading the comments on USCHO, it appears Alvarez treats hockey as the red-headed step child of that atheltic department, it wouldn't seem likely that he's going to break the bank for a new coach.

Bates always seemed to find the money to keep Rico's salary edging up, the only thing that worries me is an a new AD who doesn't feel the need to keep that going. Does anyone doubt that Brad and Steve Cady would have found a way to match any offer that came Rico's way? Anyone? Good, Steve Cady for AD!!

Not losing any sleep over this, but interested to see what others think.

Where are you hearing they're talking about Rico?

Yeah, I had just seen his name pop up half a dozen times between their two threads and was thinking outloud. Random musing on a slow news week.

Re: Official 2012-13 Miami Season Thread: Baby boom!

Thanks for the update 628.

The team is heading up to Alaska today. Over last five season Miami is 5-0-1-1 in games played in Fairbanks and 10-3-1-1 overall against UAF. Hopefully the trend continues this weekend and we can come home with 6 points.

It's an olympic ice correct? That has to be an advantage for our small quick team.

Believe so...I've never actually stayed in (college days) or stayed awake (post-college days) to watch a game from out there.

Another fun fact….it will be between -30 and -40 the next few nights, depending on what hotel your boys are staying at. If they ever wondered what was meant by “when hell freezes over,” wonder no more. Good thing it's dry cold! ;)

I did notice a slew of player tweets this morning with the hastag #-30

Can't even handle the dry cold, what whimps ;)

Why can't we do something like this?? Maybe a RedHawk swooping down and eating little cartoons versions of Red or Jeff Jackson. and then he takes it back to his nest to feed the little chicks and they grow up to be strong hockey players. yay or nay?

Sounds far too hostile and abusive. We don't do dat no more.
