I was informed this evening that Coach Gilligan has left SUNY Canton to take a position at Northwood Prep. I understand the move, but that leaves a huge hole in their growth of the program. I wish him well as I have had the chance to talk with him and thought he had things moving along quite well.

Adrian goalie, Tyler Parks has signed with Missouri of the ECHL...apparently foregoing his senior season with the BullDogs..

There is no apparently about it.

An ECHL goalie contract is rarely a route to anything bigger and those guys are paid peanuts. You really want somebody to understand the need for a degree, but that lure of the title "pro hockey player" is strong for lots of these guys.

LIVE baseball tournament coverage was produced by WTOP10 for the second straight year...15 Pros With GPAs forgoing BSR to create quality sports television...

Where did they get the name WTOP? When I was 10 years old and living in the DC area, WTOP was a local TV station (CBS I think). I assume that this WTOP isn't an over the air operation or the name would be a conflict with an existing license.

WTOP in DC gave up the call sign in the 80s to become WUSA. I assume that's when it migrated North.

Interestingly WTOP radio still exists in DC, moving a few tears ago from clear channel 1500 AM to 103.5 FM.

1500 AM is now WFED which concerns itself with the federal workforce and overflow Capitals / Nats games.

WTOP-FM in DC is known in the industry for continually being one of the top-billing radio stations in the country.

From a report out of Madison, Garrett Suter, former UW- Stevens Point player, will be announced as the new head coach of the Madison Capitals of the USHL..
