Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

I was told by Brian Cuban (not Mark, the other one) that the students were in custody. They were not, however they were sitting on the ground, so not sure why the police had to get them up. Here's video. Someone is shouting right near the camera, so you may want to turn your speakers down.

Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

The silence from the GOP after some nut tried to assassinate the president is deafening. Why did he try to kill the president? Like Jake and Elwood, he was on a "Mission From God."

The Antichrist? Where would he get an idea like that?

And those geniuses over at Fox "News" have dubbed him the "Occupy Shooter" even though there are absolutely no ties between the OWS movement and this nut.
At least you're not claiming he's a member of the Tea Party. :D

UC Davis launches probe after pepper spray video

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The University of California, Davis has launched an investigation in the wake of video showing an officer using pepper spray on a group of protesters who appear to be sitting passively on the ground with their arms interlocked.

Calling the video "chilling," UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi said on Saturday she is forming a task force made up of faculty, students and staff to review the events surrounding the protests a day earlier. Katehi made the announcement in a message to the campus.

Some members of a crowd gathered at the scene scream and cry out. The crowd then chants, "Shame on You," as the protesters on the ground are led away. The officers retreat minutes later with helmets on and batons drawn.

It's not clear from the video what agency the officer who used the pepper spray represents. Officers from UC Davis and other UC campuses as well as the city of Davis responded to the protest, according to Annette Spicuzza, UC Davis police chief. Davis is about 80 miles north of San Francisco.

Karen Nikos, a university spokeswoman, told The Associated Press that she expects to have comment on the incident later Saturday morning.

I hope that cop was just moonlighting because he wont be around much longer. You cannot be caught on tape pepper spraying kids who are sitting not attacking you. Even if he was in the right (which I highly doubt but still) that video is going to be all over the place and his name will be released. His employers will have to distance themselves from him and it will spiral. He is FUBARed big time.

edit: CNN Tweet...

UC Davis placed 2 police officers on administrative leave after they pepper-sprayed nonviolent protesters. http://on.cnn.com/vLtZIP

Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

GingriNch's comments about and to the OWC protesters were amusing, but hardly surprising. After malevolently misstating the OCW objection --“all the Occupy movement starts with the premise that we all owe them everything,”—he offered advice: get a job and take a bath.

But why did Newt stop there? Even better advice could have been to tell them that ethics and marriage vows are mere inconveniences and violations of them can be explained away by “patriotic ferver” and forgiven after religious rebirth. He could have told them how to use scams, outright hypocrisy and becoming a whore to generate wealth. Ah yes, Newt is a such wonderful role model for young Americans.

George Will, master of understatement: Newt “embodies everything disagreeable about modern Washington.”

Translation: "Let them eat cake!" I hope he gets the Republican nomination. He'd be a better guarantee of a second Obama term than even Bachmann or Cain.

What I find surprising is that even with that article being a spot on commentary on the lunacy of the extremist right, the way the left functions right now, you wonder if any of them have ever tried to balance a checkbook.

Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

Except if they get $1.00 more in revenue they'll spend $1.25

As opposed to the GOP which will just borrow the $1.25...

Like I've said before, this is what you get when you elect Republicans. Look at the chaos in Wisconsin, Ohio, Arizona and Alabama. Millions wasted in lawsuits, paralysis in state govt, fear and uncertainty everywhere, industry crippling laws enacted, electoral shenanigans, you name it. All for no reason other than to serve a narrow partisan ideology. I don't know which is funnier: 1) Lawmakers responsible for stupid laws getting recalled at an unprecedented rate 2) Sea hag insane AZ gov impeaching the indepedent chairwomen of the voter approved redistricting commission, only to have the state supreme court slap her upside the head and re-instate the woman, 3) Illegal immigration law in AL that drove 99% of state's farm workers away thus leaving AG industry in ruins, or 4) Retread old GOP hack Kasich having voters in off year election overwhelmingly repeal anti-union law the first chance they got.

None of this would be needed if people actually took the time to vote in these states against rampant stupidity. Personally, I'd be pretty amused to see the look on people's faces when they voted for a Romney/Perry/Cain/whoever for President, and then the guy actually implemented what he said he would during the campaign. Bottom line: you get what you vote for.

Re: Obama XXII: Occupy the White House

Right and what did we get when we elected Democrats? Spineless leadership who couldnt pass legislation when the party controlled everything. The Democrats would blow a 3 TD lead with 4 minutes left in the game. Oh and they would still spend like drunken sailors while doing it. That they would fund SOME of what they spend only makes them slightly better than the GOP who would fund NONE of what they spend.

Neither side can balance a checkbook because neither side knows what it is like to actually have to live on a budget. They forgot that years ago. Both sides are the freshmen in college signing up for 20 credit cards and buying new cars and trips to Spring Break. If you just ignore the bills, they don't really matter.

They did. And they'll try again in the next election. Unfortunately, when your choice is between rampant stupidity and rampantly stupid you still end up with.................that's right, stupid.

Yeah
But your stupid is stupider then his stupid, therefore his stupid is a better choice
