Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

Re: Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

Thats kind of the point. It doesn't matter what tax structure you use, you'll wind up at or near 19% of revenue. That being the case you'd want a tax structure that maximizes economic growth. I would argue that is a flat or fair tax.

Rich would end up paying even more than they do now then. That's why they are "Flat" out against it.

Re: Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

Why would they -- the international class that created the system is using it to get rich on the backs of US taxpayers. The US military budget and corporate welfare move money from the American middle class to a post-national group of interlocking board members. There is no reason for them to mess that up. It's the same Easy Street that class enjoyed with colonialism from the Congress of Vienna to WW1. Then Lenin and Hitler messed it up for a while but they finally got it back on track in the 1980's and have been suckling at it every since. And as we can see here everyday, there is a conveyor belt producing dedicated apologists and inoculating victims against challenging it. They built the Matrix. It's really quite beautiful.

And the great thing is, once they've wrung the last dollar out of America, any other country will do. The Ayn Rand of China is sharpening her pencil as we speak.
ummm... DON'T TREAD ON ME. commie. or something.
No, but I started a book called "1942" yesterday that so far seems to make a pretty good case for maintaining a superstrong military. Who knows what kind of destruction our military presence has prevented in our lifetime?
Note: Never start an entertaining book at the same time as "War and Peace", if you want to read the latter in 3 weeks. That thing is huge. and the names in it are all Russian and stuff.

Not only is it a yoke on taxpayers and a detriment to more productive segments of the marketplace...but it results in goods and services that just sit and rot (unless of course they're being used to kill people).

So taxes just increased for 50 million Americans. Cool!

Re: Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

Looks like everyone will get their xmas presents this year. It takes a bribe to extend the Bush tax cuts.

The add-ons were being attached behind the scenes.

Almost $5 billion in subsidies for corn-based ethanol and a continuing tariff to protect against ethanol imports were wrapped up and placed on the tree Thursday night for farm-state lawmakers and agribusiness lobbyists. Environmentalists won more grants for developers renewable energy , like wind and solar.

"Historically the government has helped a product compete in one of three ways: Subsidize it, protect it from competition or require its use. We understand that ethanol may be the only product receiving all three forms of support from the U.S. government at this time," the senators wrote.

So all the money business is making is going toward executive pay, acquisition and dividend pay. No wonder we're getting a jobless growth.

Honeywell Inc. (HON), followed GE later Friday by announcing plans to raise its first-quarter dividend by 10%. The diversified industrial group's board authorized the increase to $1.33 a share from $1.21. Its shares were recently up 1.5% at $52.11.

The combination of improving demand conditions and restructuring efforts have left U.S. and European industrial companies sitting on a growing cash pile that has spurred merger-and-acquisition activity.

GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt said in October that GE would consider a another dividend raise "if we don't see good opportunities" for acquisitions."

The top guys have balls of steel and super-ego. asking for better compensation as they tap the taxpayers and that's humility.

GM CEO Dan Akerson said in a speech to the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., that the company faces many challenges, including the retention of top talent in its executive ranks

We've been able to retain them but we're starting to lose them

Akerson is receiving a government-approved $9 million in annual compensation, including stock and salary.

The government gave General Motors $49.5 billion to bail out the automaker in 2008 and 2009. Treasury earned $13.5 billion from GM's initial public offering in November. U.S. taxpayers still own 33 percent of the company.

He said GM learned a lesson in humility from its bankruptcy but it was well-positioned to return to sustained profitability while reducing its debt and large pension obligations.

"We survived a near-death experience and we deeply appreciate the support we got from the American people," Akerson said.

rebound from its bankruptcy is being hindered by salary limits the government has clamped

At what point in history would you have eliminated the US military? 1800? Civil War? Before WWI? After WWI? WWII? Cold War?

"Eliminated"?

"I think he may be getting too much oxygen."

"Oh, yeah? You ever try to live with NO OXYGEN?!"

"Uh no, er, wait... what?"

With approx half of the world's military budget on US taxpayer shoulders. And Europe being one of the most secure places in the world from military invasion. Its a credit to other countries that it doesn't result in an all out arms race.

There's no reason why we need a major presence in Europe. Maybe one base in Germany or Britain as a pit stop between the US and the Middle East, which is going to be of interest until the oil runs out or we find a better source.

I'm completely disinterested in being the shield for Europe to run their social programs behind since they don't need to spend money on military forces after 1989.

I don't see anything in his post that indicates acceptance of a need for a US military...do you?

So based on your posts, you're on record of supporting massive increases in military.

Just don't claim to be a fiscal conservative.

I haven't seen anything in your posts that says you won't give me a million dollars...just make the check payable to Cash.

Re: Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

So, Obama got alpha-maled by Bill... while I'm not shocked, our effeminate commander-in-chief better either 1) get a hold of himself OR 2) resign and let Biden run this country. While I don't trust Biden not to put his foot in his mouth I trust him far more as an executive of the United States than I do Barry.

Re: Obama XVIII : Now with 100% more Gov't sponsored starvation

All I could think of when I saw Obama walk out of the press conference was, "Man, this guy is nuts."

He knew what he was getting into when he ran for president (or maybe not). Oh no, the first lady is calling? TOO BAD. You're the President of the United States of America. You're not someone who gets to choose his hours. If I had a meeting going on about the biggest project in our division, I'll be dam*ed if I'm going to get up and announce, 'Someone is waiting for me' and take off. Especially when it seemed quite clear he was just being upstaged and didn't like it.

That being said, who cares? I'm surprised he didn't have one of his people make a more formal pass off to clinton. Man I love that guy. Screw term limits, I want Clinton back.

Why so the GOP could spend millions on another witch hunt of the guy? The amount of money spent on that investigation and the way Ken Starr was able to just keep looking into things (Lewinsky, Watergate, Travelgate...etc) was further proof that the GOP doesnt care one iota about spending as long as it serves their agenda.

I never understood the witch hunt in the first place... The GOP really showed their true colors. Stupid, stupid, and stupid.

this sentiment is EXACTLY why that amendment is a good idea... people latch onto people that make them feel good regardless of the reality underlying the situation... a man who can move those emotions like Clinton can lead to dark places for a society under the right circumstances. Heck, Obama campaigned with those overtones and counted on it to change the nation but he got halted quickly as he started to pay back his political benefactors and organize the white house hierarchy.

Each day that passes, the president becomes more and more as I believe him to be... going to be a rough two years ahead.

Oh please, dark days? Under clinton? The only dark days were when the GOP had their epic cock block going on.
