Yes, as of late last week
What happened? Great coach who has had a tough time recruiting due to the financial situation at NSA. Wonder if that had anything to do with it?
Yeah, your fiscal fear-mongering is really going to help the situation especially when I highly doubt you have any idea what the financial situation is at NSA or NAHA.

Seems to be some real fear in Minnesota that is these fail we will see more influx into the Minnesota version of this type of school and some imbalance into the High School League. Even a rumor that some St.Louis Blues including the Olympian and her sister will be here already for this season. Right now there are two such schools on the boys side and one on the girls.
I'm pretty sure Shattuck won't care if the MN High School League balance is upset by their being better. As a private school with an onging aspiration to being the best girls (and boys) team in the country, it's kind of what they do.

Her sister is big and slow and BAD!!!! If Ohio doesn't get the little one than the big one is bye bye! Someone had to say it

I hope this team can make it the year, for the players sake.
This is a JWHL team, how many other teams are in this position? I heard NAHA is on thin ice. How could this business model flourish this long, in this economy? Youth coaches making $30,000 +, really?
Parents, I don't think this league is a great investment. If you are considering the JWHL, ask the team if they are in good financial shape.
Let's hope that the kids don't get screwed over by adults!

The JWHL is a U19 league right and entirely pay to play? I'm using pay to play in the sense that the players pay a fee not in the sense that the most talented aren't picked because from what I've heard it's a great quality of play. I'm just wondering because it would seem that this is the issue - teams rely on the players to pay for almost their entire budget. It's like running a junior program without trying to make some money (which might be the only realistic model but has major issues).
And how do independent clubs and teams raise money? Fundraisers = money from pocket left going into pocket right; your neighbors' pockets, grandparents, etc. Corporate Sponsorships = part of your bill payment set aside and put into a "giving pool" to be put into the pocket on the right. Money comes from people, period, whether that be you, me, those around you who support your cause, corporations who invest the money from their customers into their charitable pool, grants funded by tax dollars from, yep, people. The best thing about pay for play is that while most of those organizations are 501(c)3 entities who are technically "owned" by the general population, none of the general population wants anything to do with them. So those entities' members, i.e. parents of players, a homogeneous group of people, define their missions and successes by paying for it outright and guiding annual decision and budget making instead of having a melting pot of folks from a heterogeneous population contributing to your cause then telling your cause what to do and how to do it and with too many generalities, in many cases.
PS Hux, great post...
