Notre Dame @ Minnesota 1/7/12

Re: Notre Dame @ Minnesota 1/7/12

It looked worse at first but should be just a 2 min interference - 2min charge works.... And they score 2-1 golden helmet guys

Re: Notre Dame @ Minnesota 1/7/12

Ambroz takes a stupid penalty. Some things never change.

The refs called it charging, but it clearly wasn't - he didn't take any steps, he just glided in and hit him.

If anything, that hit was interference, since the player did not have the puck.

And Notre Dame converts on the powerplay almost immediately to go up 2-1.

So it wasn't a penalty but Ambroz was stupid to take it???????? Cut the guy a break. He takes some dumb ones, but if it is a bad call, don't get mad at a guy fro trying to get some physical play going in a game where the Gophs have been flat.

Interference should of been the call instead of charging - 2 mins is 2 mins

He hit a guy away from the puck, so it WAS a penalty (even if the officials called the wrong one on him).

I'm not cutting him a break given that he takes a lot of penalties and offers little upside on offense.

And Marshall whiffs on the puck leading to a breakaway goal for Notre Dame. Jesus ****ing Christ.

Re: Notre Dame @ Minnesota 1/7/12

Not saying that necessarily, but the Gophers overachieved and got off to a blistering start. At this point, they aren't as good as their record, let alone their ranking.
I'm saying it. Most of the league simply isn't that good this season. We'll probably see 3 WCHA teams in the tournament - at most.

In some ways, this season reminds me of '04-'05. That year, MN also got off to a hot start, and then proceeded to go .500 for pretty much the entire second half of the season. Luckily for them, they did well enough in the non-conference games (unlike this year) to secure the #4 overall seed / last #1 seed for the tournament and hosted a regional to boot. A couple of low-scoring yawnfests later, they were in the frozen four and had completely overachieved given how awful they looked at the final five.

Re: Notre Dame @ Minnesota 1/7/12

It helps that earlier this year they were actually skating and working. Winning the puck battles and showing heart. After the no dak series I can't say they have played a complete game since.
