Notre Dame leaves Hockey East for Big 10

Re: Notre Dame leaves Hockey East for Big 10

Could you link to articles about the new rink and upcoming ground breaking? Thanks

Sean

Nothing public yet. I have personally seen the blueprints and designs of the rink on top of attending discussion boards with the AD, Dean and others. The only reason why ground breaking hasn't taken place yet is due to the demands of the adjunct professors (who admittedly don't get paid enough), but this dispute should be settled within the next few months.
Here's an article from last year by Dan Rubin: http://www.uscho.com/2015/03/10/bentley-evaluating-sites-for-a-new-on-campus-arena/

Hey, if HE wants to replace the Golden Domers with a squad overshadowed by football country, well, UAH is already used to planes and buses, and it's not like you get into South Bend directly, so what's the difference between flying to Chicago or Atlanta? [Okay, it's a matter of the nature of the delay.]

I wonder where the TV networks stand on this. Does the BTN allow ND to stay on NBC Sports or is the decision ND's?

Sorry domers, I don't see the value in this for the B1G. I know they're desperate to expand, but there's 50 schools that would jump. And BTN doesn't even get anything?

Re: Notre Dame leaves Hockey East for Big 10

Well, UConn and a potted plant are about equivalent academically (joking aside, they simply don't fit the big ten academically).

I hope you mean because Rutgers is AAU and UConn is not. You may want to take a look at where UConn ranks with other public Universities before making this statement.

Re: Notre Dame leaves Hockey East for Big 10

I live on Long Island. People here do not care about college sports. They especially have no interest in college hockey. Rutgers, a BIG program, gets little print or TV in the metro area unless it is regarding one of their sports scandals. That coverage is quite prevalent .

I'm across the sound in Weschester and have played in a few men's leagues on LI. That actually surprised me considering that LI kids dot the rosters of the USNTDP along with almost every HE team. LI has, does, and will continue to put out some serious hockey talent.

OK - If Sean was right that HEA was the Great Eastern Schism, then I'll play Martin Luther and start a Reformation/Revolution.

QU goes HEA. The bull is posted on the door of the ECACHL offices.

The NYS ECAC schools decide to form a league within the State. The poach RIT, Niagara and Canisius from AHA to form the ECHC with a 28 game conference schedule.

The ECAC wants to reconstitute by adding Army, AIC, Sacred Heart, Bentley, Holy Cross, and Air Force to go with the Ivy League, but since only one of these schools offer womens D1 ice hockey, the Ivy League goes at it alone.

The ECACHL joins the CCHA in the annals of leagues of fond memories.

It's my fantasy, smile and enjoy!

"Travel" when all of their sports play in the ACC, a league that ranges from Boston to Tallahassee.

Their hockey program going to Orono is too much but the women's soccer team going to Tallahassee or Atlanta is just fine.

B$.

This was done for dolla dolla bills. Would you rather attend a ND-Maine game or a Michigan-ND game? Hell, 99% of their students probably don't even know what HEA means.

They sold out both of their games against Maine this year so you might want to find another example.

That's one area where it will hurt Hockey East losing Notre Dame. Like them or not, they draw fans into the buildings they visit.

Edit: Not necessarily their own fans, but the games I've gone to where they were the opponent were well attended.

Indeed; some LI NHLers: Matt Anderson, Ferrero twins, Matt Giltoy, Chris Higgins, Mike Komisareth, Eric Nystrom, Kyle Palmieri, Jim Pavese, and Rob Scuderi (has SC).

In research?
Did you mean AAU membership or not? Funny how Delany offered ND a spot in the B1G for all sports a while back...and they are no where near any B1G school in research $$. Enjoy your trips to South Bend.

No, I mean in research. Just what I said. You clearly aren't keeping up. Notre Dame has always been the crown jewel in the Big Ten's crown. It's the one school that would likely break the rule. Plus there's the fact that they're not a full member. Just an affiliate and likely won't get access to the CIC until they join in all sports.
