Notre Dame hockey off-season...beware the "I'ds" of March and other ponderings

Re: Notre Dame hockey off-season...beware the "I'ds" of March and other ponderings

Re: Notre Dame hockey off-season...beware the "I'ds" of March and other ponderings

does the team practice every Thursday afternoon or any other days? and what's the hours? there's still so long to wait till a real game...

sorry Mr. Time erased all the stuff off my mind :(

Okay, you are waaay too young to be forgetful.

The ice is up now, but the team can only have captain's practices now. "Official" practices with coaches can't be before October 2nd.

BTW, welcome back!

Welcome back to South Bend! Now get some sleep to take care of the jet lag.

Good thing is I've been back for 3 weeks so the jet lag has been beat for quite awhile.

Bad thing is since I have adjusted my time too well I've already got back to the Architecture Time Zone...

Can't wait to see every one!:D

Hmmm but the "UNofficial" ones?

I mean they have game on the 3rd...

btw I would be late for the first game. I'm sent to BC for FB and my final flight would land in the Bend 10min before the hockey game...

Those would be the captain's practices and the summer play at the Ice Box.

On a side note, Riley Sheahan better not leave for Erie. :( I have him picked to be the youngest letter wearer in ND's history. Since classes have started, I don't see him jumping ship a month before the season gets underway, so don't duck under a tree. I don't believe the sky's falling.

While not speaking specifically of any rumor surrounding Riley Sheahan, I wouldn't be surprised if someone left between periods of a game, let alone this late in the summer.

What? You've never wanted to try parachuting into the JACC parking lot?? Where is your sense of adventure? If I can fly into Maine and Rhode Island for shows this weekend, getting up close and personal with Hurricane Earl, surely you can strap on a parachute.

And Riley Sheahan, please be forewarned. I will be in Syracuse the weekend following. If you jump for Erie, that is awfully close to where I will be and I will have to hunt you down.

I chuckled at this statement...until I realized you were probably only half joking.

I had actually checked the route of my flight, and found it unfortunately doesn't fly over the parking lot:rolleyes: If I parachute somewhere else on campus I couldn't afford it if I get stuck in some trees and miss the entire game...;)

I still want Joe Lavin as captain and Riley Sheahan as an alternate. As for any other alternates, Sean Lorenz, Billy Maday and/or Ryan Guentzel are my choices.

I wonder if the fact that Billy Maday represented the team at the podium at the official ground breaking means anything, letter-wise.

I hope so. Out of the options available, I think he's by far the best choice. (And yeah, why didn't I hear an announcement about this ground breaking??)
3 weeks!

Re: Notre Dame hockey off-season...beware the "I'ds" of March and other ponderings

Re: Notre Dame hockey off-season...beware the "I'ds" of March and other ponderings

I have to say I'm both perturbed by and in agreement with Lou Nanni at his groundbreaking speech. First, the "in agreement" statement: I wholeheartedly agree that the hiring of Coach Jackson will go down as one of the greatest moves by the Notre Dame athletic department. I'm glad to see that acknowledged by those inside the University.

Now the "perturbed" statement: Had any of the long-time, loyal, season ticket-holding fans actually known about or, heaven forbid, been invited to, the ground breaking, there would have been no need for, "...we're a relatively small group now, make sure you look around. You were here because years from now a lot more people are gonna claim to be here than are actually here."

I'm thrilled that this team is gaining fans left and right. They are beginning to love what I've loved for 75% of my lifetime. However, given that my posse and me, IHF, Sec2..., and a few others have been rooting for this team for better than 3 decades, I take offense at the above remark. Maybe I'm taking it all wrong because my best student skipped class yesterday. Maybe it's because the season ender of The Closer was Monday and now I gotta wait til December for new episodes. Maybe it's because the University itself seems to be a bandwagon jumper. I don't know. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

Anyway, this grizzled fan is chompin' at the bit for the season to start. 18 days.
