Notre Dame at Northern Mich - Last one out of the CCHA turn off the lights, please.

Good luck Wildcats! Keep UP hockey rolling!

Who for Notre Dame has dominated besides Lee and Tynan? NMU has 10 players with 4 or more points this year while ND has 8. NMU has played one more game than the Irish. This matchup is a lot closer than you might think, due in part to NMU's depth and home ice for the Cats.
you'll have to forgive nmufan davyd he has a tendency to be a tad pessimistic at times!

I wouldn't call it pessimistic. I'd call it cautiously realistic.

A solid tie for the Cats. Ellingson has earned tomorrow's start.

ND looks scary good at times with NMU looking like they're just hanging on. But the Cats then will turn around and get good looks for themselves. I really like this team's resiliency so far this year. The hustle has been outstanding to date and the team chemistry seems solid.

Excellent game between two very good hockey teams.

What a game Saturday. Both teams had good chances that they just couldn't bury. ND had a few in the third where they saw an out of position Ellingson, a wide open net, and put the puck wide or high.

The reputation the 'Cats have for penalties showed. In the Second period alone I watched two ND players stop quick in the corner and turn their back to an oncoming Wildcat trying to draw the CFB 5 minute penalty. Also watched Rust push a Wildcat after the whistle into Johnson trying to draw the Cat into a goalie interference penalty.

Both teams looked good. The Cats have lots of work to do going forward but there is a great foundation set for this team.

I was at both games and was really impressed with the job Thurber's line did on the Tynan line. If you noticed Walt waited until Jackson changed his line to make his change. Every time Tynan and Lee went on the ice, Thurber, Florek and Sekel came on the ice. It hurt NMU's offense to match them like that, but with the help of good defense and great goaltending, they kept two of the most explosive scores in the country in check.

The same can be said for the penalty kill, Florek and Thurber started almost every kill and take 60-90 seconds of every kill. This is working for the time being, but the Wildcats have to stop taking the dumb penalties (3 in the offensive zone on Saturday night) if they want to continue to compete with the nations elite.
