What is really interesting is what this weekend did to the KRACH rankings, especially in the SOS category. Pretty much as a whole the teams of ECAC-W SOS fall (4,8,11,12,14) below the teams of NCHA (1,2,3,5,6,7,9) with a scattering of SUNYAC thrown in the mix (10,13,15).

Not that it matters, but, how does Rivers Falls get more votes than Scholastica. Scholastica beat River 3 times this past season and SNC once. They also finished tied for 2nd with River in the NCHA.

... and one of only three in the top 15. That's kinda crazy.

I think (and I haven't computed such things) that the proportion of private schools with hockey programs is greater than the proportion of public schools with hockey programs. Except for the WIAC and the MASCAC, most leagues are largely composed of private schools.

...well I guess we know what one of Prof's off-season projects will be... (he's probably finished already)

Re: Not that it matters...but here's the final poll of the 2011-2012 season

48 of the 71 schools sponsoring men's hockey at the DIII level are private schools - that slightly more than 2/3. In a top 15, that means we would expect to find if things were totally random 5 public schools ranked among the top 15. 3 is under represented, but not drastically.

What is missing are the Wisconsin state schools from this poll. Is there anything or anyone we can blame for this? Anyone? At all?

1. St Norbert

It is the end of the season. Polls are silly and useless.

So, you're backtracking on your ability to answer the question.

You said, "If you are happy with around 50% at best being correct." Your answer indicates only 6.7% of the poll is correct. So, which is it? The whole poll is useless or you disagree with 50% of the poll?

If the former, then everything you said in this thread was useless. If the latter, then give us your poll.

Re: Not that it matters...but here's the final poll of the 2011-2012 season

I never said that my poll would have more than one team. The person who I quoted was happy with the top 8 making sense. I was responding directly to them. 8 of 15 teams being correct would equal out to 53%, thus my quote. That is math based off of what he responded and had nothing to do with my thoughts on what the poll should look like.

My direct quote on the poll was that it was a joke. My poll, when asked was given. It was one team. I would agree that the USCHO poll had the top team correct in their poll.

You guys do know that most of the poll voters are D-III hockey coaches right? If they don't know who is correct, I don't know who would.
