Norwich: the best of the rest in 2010

Re: Norwich: the best of the rest in 2010

Middlebury is an excellent team but if you truly believe NU stole the game
you are the Hans Christian Anderson of hockey fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------Couldn't agree more. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Norwich is by far the best team Plattsburgh has seen all year. Just my opinion but I have no doubt that they will be there in the end.

Re: Norwich: the best of the rest in 2010

BU ... Norwich has a solid team but perhaps you forgot the Middlebury Game on Feb 6th. Norwich was very lucky to get out of Kenyon Arena with a "w".
I'm sure if you talked to McShane in private he would agree they stole one !
The Panthers had 3 goals called back. Of the 3 called back only one was legite when the Official lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle. The other two when reviewed after the game show clearly that both goals should have counted. The game was a great game SOG were very even as well as quality SOG. This would surely go down as one of the better contested games this season.

Midd has been very hot finishing out the season with big wins over Top 10 opponents Plattsburgh, Williams, and the Norwich game where they robbed.
Norwich did not "steal" or "rob" this game. They had territorial advantage pretty much throughout the game. It was clear they had better scoring chances, out skated and outplayed Midd in this game. They earned this win. Both teams are very, very good and should go far in the playoffs. But as teams move forward , competition stiffens and if a goalie gets hot anybody can get beat, we all know that, but if Klingensmith gets hot Norwich will be very tough to beat.

Re: Norwich: the best of the rest in 2010

I did not mean to jinx the team and I really have no stake in the team, I root for all Vermont teams I was just blown away in the games I have watched them play with their depth. I realize that in single elimination playoffs anybody can win and the best teams do not always win the championship but I think Norwich has 4 lines that can roll all game long and you would be pressed to play a division 3 team that could roll 4 lines against them.

Jack Parker, Head Coach of BU said that last years squad was the best he ever coached and he said that depth is everything in college hockey. He said give me four lines of B+ talent then one line of A+ talent the rest C's.

I think Norwich has the recipe for a great hockey team and thats 4 lines of very solid players. Very very very well coached hockey team as McShanes teams always are.

I agree with you who are talking about Middlebury they are going to make some noise in the NESCAC playoffs but I personally do not think the two teams are comparable, but again I do not claim to be an expert by any means, just a fan.
