Can NMU (4-14-2) go on a (13-3-0) run to close out the regular season and end up at (17-17-2) going into the WCHA Playoffs???? There's always hope for a great 2nd half of season turnaround and run.... I've seen crazier things happen in NCAA D1 College Hockey before....

If we believe that NMU is what they have exhibited so far, then it's highly unlikely. They're the easiest case of my rating system, because I had them as a dead-to-rights .500 team coming into the year, and they've been, well, awful. NMU would be expected to win any random WCHA game about 28% of the time, and you don't often see teams looking that bad suddenly looking that good.

Northeastern was 2-12-4 at one point last season, and ended up 22-14-5 after a run of 20 wins in 23 games.

It can be done, but agreed that's the exception rather than the rule.

Stranger things have happened.... NMU could have Dominic Shine, Robbie Payne, Troy Loggins, Darien Craighead, Demico Hannoun, etc start scoring goals in bunches and could also get some good goaltending from Atte Tolvanen & Mathias Israelsson and go on a run these last (16) games and turn the season around.... I know it's wishful thinking on my part but it could happen so let's hope for the best!!!!!!!!!!!

Losing to Cornell is nothing to be embarrassed about. They are a legit NCAA tournament bubble team (despite how Marquette's Mining Journal describes them).

Going forward, I can see a handful of wins this second half and then a probable coaching change at the end of the season.

You don't honestly think the readers on this thread aren't aware of the abysmal rankings? You need not waste your time hitting us on the head with the awful numbers.

No Cat fan is happy with this season.

I'm not as sure as you are that most people on this NMU Hockey thread are aware of where NMU stands in the Pairwise Rankings so I like to post that info.... What do you want me to talk about on here - the current Marquette weather report from TV6's Karl Bohnak or the TV6 Finland Calling Show with Carl Pellonpaa????

Most people, Cats fans included, know how to look up the Pairwise Rankings.

I like to keep NMU Hockey fans on this thread updated on current information about the team so I try to post factual things like team game results, team records, team opponents, team rankings, player scoring, player injuries, player recruits, home attendance, coaching records, etc, etc, etc so if I include current NMU Pairwise Rankings I'm sorry if it offends anyone's intelligence.... It's just a part of my NMU Hockey postings on this thread and nothing to get bent out of shape over.... NMU currently being ranked #58 out of 60 NCAA D1 Hockey teams is a very alarming fact and it should facilitate some serious banter and conversation about the program don't you think????

I think you should start including a short list of coaches to replace Walt after this season.

I'm not that knowledgeable about prospective D1 college hockey head coaching guys that are out there and I've always wanted Walt Kyle to be successful at NMU with his teams so I'm the wrong person to speculate about that.... I'd rather report on the current state of the team and how they are doing....
