Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

congrats to Davies & Sikura, winning their tournament over in Europe. Hopefully get them back in time & rested and ready to go Friday.

Primeau Hockey East Goalie of the Month. Well deserved

Team Canada for Olympics will be announced on Jan 11. So we have about a week to wait and see if Davies/Sikura will be chosen. I'm expecting to lose Sikura.

Do you know the dates of his obligation to the Olympic team? They will need to assemble and practice for some period of time before leaving for Korea.

The actual Olympic Hockey Tournament is Feb 10-25. Back that up to ~Feb 1 for travel/acclimatization/in-country practices. Back that up even further for post-selection stuff like photo shoots, getting fitted for the fancy Olympic wardrobes, pre-departure team meetings, practices, etc. Bottom line, any college players selected for any of the Olympic teams may well have played their last college game -- at least for this year.

No idea, but if he is selected he won't play the rest of the regular season, and there is a chance he could be back for the postseason. First weekend in March will be the Octofinals, which I hope NU can avoid this year given the state of the conference. I do not think it's unreasonable to expect him to be back in time for the quarterfinals

will be happy for him/ them if they make it. its the Olympics... take it all in. hopefully be back for post season.

For Northeastern to be able to have Olympians from both, the men's & (ex) women's hockey teams with Kendall Coyne going again... overall, its a good thing.

Also, congrats to Primeau on the hockey east honors.

Bentley tomorrow, Saturday again, :) go Huskies!

Alright...time to exercise those Bentley demons and get 2018 off on the right foot. With 4 and 9 back, it's time for this offense to be what we know it can be and stop relying so heavily on our (stud) freshman goalie. Bentley is actually #37 in the PWR so these wouldn't be typical AHA "empty wins" in that regard.

Personally, I'd rather exorcise :p those demons rather than give them a workout. Good point re the PWR, which is absolutely critical considering the dismal HEA record vs OOC opponents.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Bentley playing us tough as always. They will be a force once their new rink is up & running and the recruits roll in.
Meanwhile, regardless of outcome it is good to have Sikura & Davies back. 3-3 late in the 3rd.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

As someone already noted, NU has an easy OOC schedule and ties against Bentley just won't cut it. While it might seem too early to say this, every game is crucial from here on out in terms of PWR. I hate playing these games against AHA teams because we don't gain much from them if we win, in terms of PWR, but they can definitely hurt us, as it did last year.

yes, that tying goal hurt. NU up 3-2 mid way through the 3rd, Falcons responded just 25 odd secs later... not sure if it was defensive breakdown or Primeau out of position...
if we hold that lead, might have been enough. Bentley of course has been pretty good of late. Team just needs to be better tomorrow & convert on more of the chances, unlike tonight.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Maybe when this game was scheduled they thought it would be the opening of the new arena
However, playing in front of 458 fans has to be a new low for any hockey east team

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

And, most of those 458 fans were rooting for the Huskies.

I was standing behind Primeau for Bentley's third goal and it looked like your goalie was screened. I thought that both goalies made several great saves. Looking forward to rematch at your place on Saturday night.

Down to 14-15, depending on which PWR version you look at. And HEA's continued dismal showing vs OOC teams doesn't help. For NU and other HEA teams, a tie is as good as a loss from this point on.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18: Every Dog Has its Day

Any suggestions for parking near your arena, especially given the snowstorm and now windchill?
