Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 Part II: Postseason Edition

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 Part II: Postseason Edition

NU is now +30 in special teams net on the year. That's the highest special teams net by a Hockey East team since 06-07 Maine who was a +32. Very impressive, especially considering HE has had 5 National Champions in that time period.

Definitely BU. No interest in playing Lowell, their offense is as good as ours. BU is very good defensively but I think we can score regardless with our front-end talent. Lowell puts 4-5 a night on this team without question.

Probably UML. With the exception of the clunker at Matthews last month, NU has matched up well against UML the last couple of years. OTOH, UML would not lack for motivation given the memory of last year's championship game.

In playoff hockey, it all comes down to goaltending. Wall and Oettinger have been top-shelf for the most part. Ruck has notoriously struggled but has rebounded somewhat lately. If he's found his "A" game, NU's firepower could be a decisive factor.

Ill sign up for one repeat of the 2011 quarterfinals please.
That was a wonderful weekend at bu. IIRC Sebastien coached those games. The fanboys left Agganis mumbling oaths to themselves under their
breath.

I think Cronin was back for them. I remember him being suspended for the final regular season series (which also happened to be vs. bu) but I might have it backwards

9 - Sikura
8 - Fillipe
2 - Griffin
1 – Rosenthal, Picking, Collier, Gaudette

Maybe my eyes are off but you listed 10 different linemates for one player who can have only 2 at a time. You also, again, went out of your way to discuss the supporting cast. In making your points you made mine.

I stated that I am not taking anything away from Kelleher on the offensive side of the half line...anyone who saw ZAR Friday and Saturday on the Defensive side of the half line can see the stark difference between the two players (amd, imho, Sikura as well)... To me, as I stated before, that is the compelling factor that separates him from Kelleher and vastly at that...

Congrats on your victory and good luck against UML...my gut tells me you did us a favor but we will see...

You are correct...he was reinstated the week of the BU series. Funny but Cronin had, essentially, lost the team that year but the suspension actually brought them back together. The rest is history...as was he after the season...

I like the way that you analyze and report.

FWIW, I thought that we were outplayed Friday night. One saving grace for NU in all 4 games against UConn is that their star players can't hit the net to save their lives...when they did, Ruck was there...he played well in the second game but Friday's game was the best effort I've seen him give since last year...

You are spot on about bottom 6...secondary scoring is most needed in the playoffs...
