Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

It was pretty informative in the BC post game press conference the BC player mentioned that Ruck was off his angles all night. Interesting feedback from an opposing player....

That actually is. I've made the point that Ruck is better as a reflexive goalie rather than a positional goalie. It's more than that, IMHO. Something/someone is inside of his head. He's off his mental angles too.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

The league needs to come down hard on both reviews and questioning officials calls after goals. There should be fixed number of reviews allotted. York slows down the tempo of a game with useful purpose and strategy and has been doing it since his days at Clarkson and Bowling Green. You simply can't be a drinking buddy of ref and expect a fairly called game, (Dunngaherins) because Jerry is so well respected he gets far too long a leashe.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

Look at PIM numbers. York is doing a terrible job "manipulating" refs. Get a clue.

Ha. Never stopped other teams' fans accusing Parker of manipulating refs when his BU coached teams were up at the top of the PIM list. :)

The problem you seem to have is thinking that Ruck is a HE starting goalie. He's not. He had a good run at the end of last season because NU played a group of cupcakes that over inflated his abilities. This season he has to face everyone, including the good teams. If Tiffany-Amber was between the pipes NU would be closer to 7-2-0 and sitting in 2nd place. Instead they are barely ahead of UMO and behind UMass. That's embarrassing. You need to have a talk with Madigan and pull the plug on this kid before the season is a total wash. He is last in GAA, last in Sv% and tied for last in Win %. Time to ride the pine and give Theaut a chance.

Agreed with this wholeheartedly. Here are some fun stats on Ruck this year:

Ruck SV% @ home: 88.6%
SV% away: 87.5%
SV% vs HEA: 87%
SV% overall: 88.2%
SV% vs NCAA teams from last year: 86.8%
SV% over his last 20 games: 88.1%. Obviously, bad, even worse when you realize it includes games against ASU (2) and Bentley (2).

This can't go on like this. Theut or Frye, now that 31 is back from injury. Pick one Jim. Otherwise this has the potential to be the most disappointing NU season, with the most talented team this program has had in a very long time.

Not a single goal yesterday was reviewed. There was one discussion and rightfully so. Play should have been blown dead but I guess the BC coaches should just sit there with their heads up their *** rather than ask a ref if anyone saw what happened. But mad dog Madigan completely losing his mind which he does at least once a year is totally fine.

Why should it have been blown dead? Go look at the on demand feed...he never closed his hand...

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

They nearly needed to escort me form the rink I have never seen so much Jerry York manipulation of the refs and controlling the tempo asking for a booth review of goals that needed no review. Die Please! Tonight, he had an eye patch on like a pirate and the one eyed wonder halted NU momentum a number of times with chirps, complaints and bench tweets. He is a sly old dog and JM looks like a deer in the headlights in comparison to his work behind the bench.

you're smarter than this or a sore loser . You've also seen the master of manipulating the officials, the ex-coach of your arch rivals............and you say crap about Jerry York? Jesus

One side note: tonight certainly made me appreciate the free stream NU puts out. 7 bucks for the BC stream which only had the PA audio (no PxP). The video quality and camera work was quite good but still $7 for a game without audio is ridiculous.

The video is not that good. You guys are spoiled because NU's feed is so much better than anyone else's that it's almost comical and i've gone on many of our opponent's feeds so i'm not speaking out of school. Bravo to whomever at NU is in charge of it. It's awesome

Trust me when I tell you that you missed nothing if the option was that the two homer b*tches who do the BC radio do the video stream as well.

mmmmkay

IMO, Ruck was a serviceable--though not premium--D1 starter last year. And you can't call two Ws at Notre Dame, and two more at the Gahden vs BC and UML cupcakes. Throw in a 2-2- tie at Lowell, a 5-1 win vs then #9 Harvard, and two at then-#13 SLU that also don't fit the "cupcake" definition. This year is different and I don't know of anyone in Huskyville that is claiming RR is even serviceable. I'm not smart enough to understand why.

Conversely, the little fire hydrant named Lekkas that you guys came up with has almost singlehandedly shut down the "Fire Sneddon" movement. Happy for the kid.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016-17 -- Great Expectations

Is it a measure of how much the hockey gods hate NU that Notre Dame gets the GWG vs BC shorthanded off of a steal with only 1:30 left in the second period? I guess the fact that it wasn't in the last 30 seconds of the game shows some grudging degree of mercy.
