Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

Is this Party going to be on NESN? Please tell me it is,or Im going to run outside and scream at the top of my lungs. #reallynotreally #WheresBU #BeatBC #GoNU

As has been duly noted on USCHO, Hockey East website, most likely NU's website, and all over the various threads here, NESN will be broadcasting the 5:00 game tomorrow in its entirety (nationally, but not locally, on NBCSN). The 8:00 game will begin on NESN and then at 9:00 switch to NESN+ due to Bruins coverage (also nationally, but not locally, on NBCSN). Saturday's championship game will be on NESN locally and NBCSN nationally. Here's Hockey East's weekend tv link for reference.

Any update on John Stevens?

If he's out what do you do? I'd assume Nolan will move to center and then Roy or Griffin would get slotted into that vacant wing. I guess you could also move Collier up to center NS and ZAR but then who centers Roy and Kurker?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

For what it's worth, when John missed time in fall ZAR centered Griffin on the top line, and last weekend Roy centered Nolan and ZAR after John left. So I'd guess it'd be some combo of 15/12/21, but the order is anyone's guess.

Also, ZAR named to the Hockey East Second All-Conference team, Nolan honorable mention.

Leaman wins coach of the year with the other finalists being York and Jackson.

BU is thrashing your team at the beanpot semis last month.
Calm down. When you beat BC tomorrow you can brag.

NU Hockey: Lost to BU twice in the same weekend during BU's worst season in decades.

I am officially on high alert on the John Stevens injury. Gulp. I've reached out to my sources and mum is the word-- which is not good. Small positive sign is that he is still on social meda-- a lot of the NU players block social media during injuries... I'll update if I hear anything.

Agreed. York? Please.

Honestly, Madigan should have been the winner.
Good coaches lead teams into precarious situations at times.
Great coaches win consistently throughout the season.
Just sayin'. ;)

The COY award must be a retroactive awards, as Leaman and York each started with teams that were loaded. Jackson's ND team got hot at the end of last season, but peaked about a month before the end of this season. If we can beat BC, we deserve to switch places with Notre Dame in the NCAA seedlings regardless of who coaches them.

Who gets to do the voting for these teams and awards?

Huh? It would make more sense if you said "Good coaches lead teams out of precarious situations." Period.

If the motivation for giving it to Leaman was saying thanks for winning the conference a national championship then fine. But that was last season. Yes, he got a piece of the regular season championship (but not #1 seed) and didn't screw up a loaded defending national championship team. If you're looking at this year only, he did what was expected.

I can make more of a case for Saint Jerry with the #1 seed plus the thousandth win.

Jeff Jackson......where did that come from?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015-2016 Part Duex: Enjoy the Ride at the Gahden Party!

Dope. Do you realize how many times he has been overlooked for this award?

Ok, let him tank for a year, get five wins, and then come back with 20+ and win it. 99% of the time this is awarded to someone whose team unexpectedly gets good or exceeds expectations. BC is steady and near the top every year so when they award a coaching award for consistently being good every year, maybe he'll win. But I'd gladly see BC tank for a season and have York win coach of the year for rebuilding and bringing them back. :D

OK. How about... great coaches realize the importance of the complete season, even the first half. Good coaches are sometimes confused by this concept, year after year. ;)

I can't disagree with the Leaman selection. . . he lost some studs after last season. Loaded this year? How come only one of his guys made it as an All-Star, and that can be argued that it was a career accomplishment? And only one PC guy made Honorable Mention. Same as NU, but Leaman coached his guys to RS co-champs and currently sits at #4 PWR. His award is not undeserved.

The Hockey East coaches vote these awards.
