Saucerman also lets them get an empty netter because he too lazy to skate back to the puck in the corner.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

team barely started playing hockey.. then lack of discipline & let opponent back in the gm. when times are bad.. they're bad!..

These are just two bad teams well UNH is a young team and NU is a lost team, and both programs are more toward the bottom of the league this year. NU came out poorly but they played fairly well from when they scored on the PP at the end of the 1st. Witt was rusty for the 1st 10 minutes and that is to be expected. That said, they have lots of issues in all 3 aspects of the game and still no wins in 10 games if you include the exhibition game, which is by and far the wost start in over 50 years.

Although looking at the schedule a <5 win season is a reality and we should be prepared for it. However, the story should be on the hapless K Roy play in the offensive zone and his continued inability to play at all in the Defensive Zone and only marginal play in transition, he looks like a kid who has given up. His penalty late in the 3rd that lead to the UNH PP goal that likely cost our Huskies a point.

However I really think they will win tomorrow night at NU, to put an end to this winless streak, you all have to admit Coaching is an F week in and week out. Madigan looks like a deer in the headlights, late in all these games. We are just so poor defensively, how can so many D not be able to skate backwards as fast as they do forward at this level. Its amazing too me how just about all of our D men look like they are standing still. I guess I never appreciated Josh Manson for the Defensive D man that he was, he got to a lot of pucks/plays to break things up...I never really noticed it but this team won't be able to win very much with any of this D!

I don't know if it was the big ice, a UNH team built for Lake Whitt, or both, but the lack of defensive speed was the most glaring to me tonight that it has ever been. And it wasn't exactly a secret before. It looked like UNH was running and we were walking at some points.

Having said that, it wasn't the disaster from last Saturday and the team showed a lot of progress bouncing back from a terrible start, mostly wiped out by Roy's penalty. Problem is, this isn't the first time this year NU has been blown out then lost the next game while looking markedly better, and keeping the improvement up for future games hasn't been the trend thus far. As always, cautious optimism entering tomorrow, which will likely be unfounded optimism by about 9:30 PM.

Instead of the same comments over and over, I'll just cut to the chase.

Using Huskies01 logic.... We only need to go 16-9 rest of the way to finish .500. It's still early guys.......... Oh wait. We have 8 games against current top 10 teams left this season. Oh wait. There are only 6 games against teams not in the top 25 and not receiving any votes.

So all we have to do is win those 6 remaining against unranked teams AND 10 games against ranked opponents. Easy Peasy.

Just in case anybody thought the three stars actually meant anything, Saucerman somehow got one.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I agree with everyone here, Saucerman is brutal, I have thought this for 3 years. JM I have backed you 1000 times but I cannot and will not ever understand what you saw in him and how you can continue to put him out there. HE CANT SKATE!!!!!
That being said, I though they they played pretty well, there large periods of time where they controlled play. Bad start, Witt should have had #3 I think. If they play like this rest of way the will win. There D play is so very bad, so many kids that can't skate.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

While K Roy was becoming a nearly invisible part of our offense, he wasn't invisible to the ref who called him for slashing in the the third period. It was a really weak, home town call, but Roy had no business touching the opponent with his stick - no matter how lightly - especially after the opponent no longer had the puck. After two years, the opposing players are wise to his moves, and the refs know that he retaliates whenever he feels "offended". As I've said before, he is playing like he'd rather be in the library studying. At this rate, he'd be smart to get his degree and forget the NHL!

Saucerman is a RW wing who is masquerading as a defenseman. Where his offense is a plus, he makes such costly mistakes that I cringe when I see him in a challenging situations. To be fair, he made a terrific play to break up a two on one in the second period, but the first goal was his fault and he should have blocked the EN goal.

On balance, did outplayed UNH in many aspects of tonight's game, but we gave the "grade A" opportunities as if we were handing out Halloween candy:(

We looked like a D1 team in the 2nd and the beginning of the 3rd so that was a nice change I guess. It probably had something to do with the 2 man forecheck they used thst kept UNH pinned in their own end often turning pucks over. I'll see JM's awful excuse for a trap in my nightmares again tonight. Countless easy zone entries for a UNH team who can and will turn the puck over if pressured. JM treats these opponents like they're the mid 90's Wings.

Also, if someone can explain to me why Mike McMurtry plays close to 20 minutes a night, ill buy you a drink. While we were watching the game, my buddy wondered out loud what his CORSI would be if they kept that in college. For his sake, thank God they dont.

Well said...but the reason is is that the rest of the group isn't much better and they need to rest but I agree he looks horrible. I just don't think JM is a good judge of raw talent, and likly gives extra time to the kids who work hard in practice, which is way too old school a thought process to win in this day and age.

"Homecoming" game tonight... not much to come home to unfortunately. I'll be the guy with the paper bag over my head.

I don't think you're going to be the only one.

Also, the more I think about Roy, the more annoyed I get. I would say I want him scratched for a bit, but that would probably just make him even worse than he is now. He's the forward with (arguably) the most raw offensive talent in college hockey, and he has one goal in 10 games. He's worse than Ovechkin on defense and isn't much better on offense than he is on defense at this point. He isn't trying, which has happened sometime during all three years he's been here now, and is only good for taking ridiculous retalliatory penalties whenever he gets mad (remember that time he got a game misconduct after a play where his own helmet got knocked off?) and putting us shorthanded where we then allow the GWG (see: 11/14/14)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

The issue is discipline and quite frankly we have a coach who refuses to discipline these players for "stupid " penalties and "dumb boneheaded plays" there are guys out there that are working hard and to see this is a game changer but worse of all then the player or players who do these boneheaded plays get rewarded by just taking the next shift, I won't call out players but we who watch the games know and worse our coaching staff do not have the guts to sit or bench these players. Yes these players who do this should be sat and scratched as the same players to these dumb things over and over again without any remorse. These disciplinary problems are solely on the coaching staff. The decisions made are brutal and they must be dealt with if not then we may not win even 5 games tonight will be interesting because if they quit on the coaches tonight then a decision on players or coaches must be made. It would be ok to watch if the team was actually competing for 60 min but you can count on it that the same players game in and game out take undiscipline penalties and we go down again. JM if you any standards you must send a message you must sit these guys even of one is an Allstar or a captain there are 23 more kids on the team.
