/with simulator if unh beats PC , NU moves to 14 in power , sometimes this thing is dysfuntional but thats what i got .

NU was cheated out of a critical goal late in the 3rd period because apparently Hockey East would rather radio guys get proper angles instead of officials.

Goodby Husky fans. It's been a great season, no matter what a certain individual who posts here and on DHD on a regular basis says. He's been after JM and his coaching crew ever since they arrived. He will deny that but..... I cannot get myself aggravated my his innane comments any more. This is my last post here for a while, and maybe forever. I'll decide when and if I return.

You're going to stop posting about what you like because Huskies01 annoys you? Seems like it didn't take much.

Either way, NCAA hopes are clinging to life. They are not dead but need a decent amount of help. Cornell and UND losing tonight would be huge.

I have actually never denied that. I do not flip flop. Just call it as i see it. I thought JM was a bad hire from Day 1. About fifteen years to late to make that hire. I did at the time think Keefe and Foley were good hires as assistants, but three years in, I think I was wrong about that one.

As for the disallowed goal, momentum does not mean you are going to get the next goal. And they did get it back to 1 again with a chance to win. Its hard to win a series when you lead for a total of ZERO minutes throughout.

Look, this season probably ended this weekend, but in fact, they blew it when they got swept by bu. They have nobody to blame but themselves for that. If they put the same type of effort into that weekend as they did the last two games of this one, things would be ALOT different. But they didn't.

Question, does the team get to keep practicing until the NCAA tournament is announced, and then shut it down? Or do they have to shut it down now until October? Obviously a team like bu is now done, so no need to practice, but with NU holding the slimmest of slim chances of making it, what are the rule surrounding that? I am thinking along the lines of NCAA football where bowl teams get to keep practicing up until the bowl game compared to teams who are done and cannot.

Bingo. Handle business against BU and they have a gift-wrapped sweep vs. a terrible Maine team when it plays on the road.

Not only that but they were 9th in the PWR going into the BU weekend. Amazing how those two losses snowballed into having to play at UNH and causing them to fall so far so fast out of the NCAA tourney.
 
just a tough matchup for us against a fiesty UNH team. They tried hard.. a little too late. Put this effort last couple gms of the season & we still have a season. Try again nxt yr. We have a decent club. Ugh.. life of a Husky fan.

Air Force, Dartmouth, UMass 2X BU. Get 1 of those are they are alive, 2 of them and they are definitely in. 1 more stinkin point and these games were at Mathews. Life of a husky fan, we expect something different, yet we have all seen this movie many times.

Disappointed but all 3 games were one goal games. This team played way better than we all thought before the season started. Sounds like it will be a busy off season as well. Great group of kids we got.

NU deserves credit for making adjustments after Friday's loss and playing UNH essentially even on Sat and Sun. Key change in strategy was going below the goal line behind DeSmith to generate scoring opportunities. Speed, quickness, and passing of NU forwards behind the UNH net gave the defensemen and DeSmith fits. Good luck if you make it into the NCAA tourney.

Having played UNH five times this season, their future wins and losses impact NU more than any other team.

I ran just one scenario with the predictor, where UNH wins Fri., loses Sat. and the other conferences go about as expected. That combination put NU in. So all is not lost for the Huskies. It's not in their hands, but it's not over either.

I'm really weary of the infantile whining by a few people over the fact that a certain poster's opinions aren't the same as their own. Get over yourselves! The man is entitled to his opinions and the rest of us are entitled to disagree with them. That's what a message board is all about.

That being said, I profoundly disagree with him about his views on the coaching staff but the man was spot-on about a couple of things:

--This team will go as far as Clay Witt takes it. (IMO, Clay was never the same after that fluke deflection in the final minutes of the Beanpot)
--Special teams are a disaster. (fact: NU went 0-9 on the PP this weekend and gave up a shortie in the deciding game that gave UNH breathing room. If memory serves, NU gave up 10 shorties on the season and was ranked 9th in PK efficiency.)

Disagreements among posters aside, here are my own observations:

--I can't explain the disallowed goal. Just can't.
--This team showed lots of grit by not rolling over when things went against them. Friday night was a heartbreaker but they still came back to win on Saturday and play well enough to win on Sunday.
--They sealed their fate during the disastrous final weekend of the regular season vs the ratdogs. That was the difference between home cooking at Matthews and a weekend at Lake Whitt.
--Despite the lingering bitterness over the way things ended, I remain a glass-half-full guy. Assuming the core of this team remains more or less intact, the pipeline doesn't spring leaks, and somebody does something about special teams, there are far more positives than negatives going forward.

This pairwise predictor is dangerous.... I put in a few scenarios and without any major upsets if Michigan wins against Penn State and loses to Wisconsin and either Providence or ND win Hockey East we might be in. Also, if Penn State beats Michigan, we look pretty good too. Like I said, very dangerous to play around with that thing.:eek:

There's a decent amount of scenarios that get us in. Cornell and Colgate need to be handled by their superior opponents. I'd guess Lowell winning would help also.

We do? Wouldn't UNH winning HE just bump us another slot down since they currently are out looking in?

I was going by that that UNH poster stated. But it makes more sense that we want them to lose. I don't think UNH can get in unless they win HEA. The most important thing for NU is Quinnipiac and Union winning their games this weekend. It also would be great if North Dakota lost though it's less likely.

Was very surprised to wake up and see on twitter the amount of chatter about NU having several realistic scenarios with NU in. They were writing them off last night, now they are saying there is more than just a shot in the dark. It looks like ECAC and WCHA have the biggest say. IF Q and Union take care of Colgate and Cornell,and Minn State doesn't win the WCHA they are in. Assuming there are not any upsets, Miami winning NCHC would kill NU. I have run UNH winning and losing Friday night, really its the ECAC and WCHA that has the big tilts. You would think NU would want UNH to lose to get them out of the picture.

I have run Miami beating ND, it actually hurts if Miami goes on to win
