Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

This team was picked to finish dead last in Hockey East. With 4 games left in the regular season they are now 9th in the nation and 9th in the PairWise. Clay Witt be ****ed, if anyone saw that coming, you are a man of amazing powers.

This is the biggest weekend of the season, period. This will determine if we can finish 3rd in Hockey East and is huge for the NCAA's.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

I remember Witt being awesome his freshman year and wondering why Cronin didn't play him. It was extremely frustrating. Witt had a down 2nd year but didn't play that much. He ad a .917 save percentage his first two years combined, which is better than what we saw in Rawlings his last few years.

But anyway.

Go Huskies, huge weekend coming up.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Because I made the comment earlier about the teams OCC schedule being weak, I ran the numbers just for fun. I did not do anything complicated, just ran wins/games played for each team we played. I did not adjust for ties, basically because I am lazy.

At this point in the season if you add the wins, losses and ties, the record for the teams that NU has played to date is 132-158-36 for a winning % of .405. Again, not the true number because I did not adjust for ties by the +2.5 to wins and losses that is normally done. So is it as bad as I said it was, no, but its pretty close. You can come back with that UAH skews the number, which is true, but so does BC. Take both those teams out and the record winning % is .407, so they balance each other out.

So I leave it to you good reader, did NU benefit from having a weaker the normal out of conference schedule?

Should they tell the selection committee that they will not accept the bid cause there schedule was to weak. I think I am done with this forum. Tema loses and you *****, team wins and you *****. If they were 0-0-30 right now you'd *****. Have fun the rest of the way.

Huskies01.. maybe we can be the Bemidji of this yrs NCAA. Once you make the tourney.. one just never knows !

Did I tell you its great to have good goaltending..
:-)

I could give two ****s about who they play during the season if the team makes the NCAA's. Fact is, I'd rather mop the floor with weaker opponents and dance than lose to stronger opponents and miss out.

Can't win unless you're there! Also, FWIW NU's SOS is currently 16 in the country...not horrible.

We'd benefit if you stopped whining constantly. Are you this glass half empty about important things in life?

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

For the record, I'm all for keeping level-headed and being realistic. Anyone expecting a Frozen Four for example, is not being level-headed about the flaws of the team. But at some point, just enjoy the season for what it is.

Throw that theory out the window. NU would have won a Beanpot with Robitaille, Gibson, Thiessen and/or Witt if that held water....

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

8 or more odd posts until we can shut this thread down & start a new one for the 2014 home stretch.. any title ideas..? :)
this one should be #993.. go..

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Any NCAA team plays whoever is on the schedule. They cannot pick and choose. Is NU 'lucky' they had a weak OCC schedule? Yes. But very few teams play the best teams on a consistant basis. It is what it is.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

I am actually enjoying the season. Kinda have to because I find it hard to believe using my eyes when watching games, and looking at metrics after the fact that they continue to win like this forever. They show much remind me of last years Toronto Mapleleaf team. Horrible metrics, but they find a way.

Big difference of course being its actually easier to rebuild or reload at the college level then at the pro level due to no salary cap, contracts, etc. So they could actually turn some of the metrics around, and continue to win.

Also, I deserve to get the last comment because I make the best and most appropriate comments here.
