Northeastern at UNH - 10/23/09

NU 0 UNH 1, Period 1

NU 0 UNH 1, Period 1

UNH women losing 3-0 to Clarkson in NY right now after 1 period, boo!

NU 0 UNH 1, Period 1

NU 0 UNH 1, Period 1

JHG722 -- Haha, yeah. One of my cousin's kids is named Dalton, as well. I sort of have a soft spot for it.

1-0 after 1
Shots were 12-6 UNH

UNH 1 - Northeastern 0 1st intermission

UNH 1 - Northeastern 0 1st intermission

End of the first period. After getting dominated early, the Cats came on in the last half of the period and took it to NU. Good stuff, and considering recent games I'm just glad it's not 5-3 NU.

Just saw that section on the broadcast and its empty (the band section) no idea why.....

That sucks. A good band is key to a college hockey game. :(

Edit: Cool. But I pity the guy who has to play the tuba on the ice... :p

Yeah, they've actually gotten a lot better the last couple of years, with a band director that's a big fan of the game. They did show them in the background as they went to intermisison break spelling UNH on the ice (as far as I know, it was spelled correctly.. AND in key ;) )

Re: Northeastern at UNH - 10/23/09

What a pleasant surprise to discover a televised game. What I saw:
UNH scored the first goal. They didn't carry the play, nor was there a lot of great play-making by either team, but UNH put NU in a hole with that first score. Now UNH must play positional hockey, get the second goal, force NU to open up (if they have that capability), and take advantage of NU's defensive shortcomings.
As usual, but to an even greater and more alarming extent than expected, UNH's power play is execrable.
I did enjoy the clean play, the occasional body check, and the lack of penalties.
