Forget our local rivalries in Boston.. just look at a Quinnipiac, or Providence or UMass Lowell.. they are competitive.. they make it deep into NCAA tourney & better.. consistently hard working.. & hard to play against. HC has them ready.

..I just want a HC who can prepare the team & it be hard to skate against. Hard to play against.. the W/L record then takes care of itself. Good bad or ugly.. under Cronin, we had that edge.

With the right leadership.. we can get it back.

Tonight I saw the Denver v. BC game and all I can say is that we are in big trouble, so just strap yourself in and endure the tide and another rocky start. I don’t know how old some of you guys are but I am fast approaching my 50th year and have just calculated using match book math that I have now seen nearly 300 college hockey games during the 31 years since I arrived as a freshman transfer from IONA in 1984. Of course that was when I had hair and was about 30lbs lighter. To tell you the truth, I am out of gas for entire situation, the university, the 27 year Beanpot drought, the coach, the administration and the AD, the whole kit and caboodle. I already gave up my season tix last season after 25 years and just buy them on line when I feel like enduring the torture.

Also in reality, the team really isn’t much better or worse under JM that it has been historically under any other coach but Cronin. Since it 1st stated playing in 1929..the team has a .445 or so winning % and JM is actually now thru the 1st 6 games of this season exactly .450. Playing in lesser league really won’t help much if you are already losing to Bentley. Sadly, I have purchased BU tickets this year as I attended both graduate school and professional school their and now with the variety of on tap brews available at the Agganis I feel it is a pretty good deal if you can find free parking across Comm. Ave. This years squad has a only 10 goals thru 6 games, has shaky goaltending and marginal D. I think the Offence will eventually come arround but the W's will not follow. There is simply too much to fix.

Unfortuantelly the program just goes in circles, it’s a proverbial dog chasing its own tail. We have 4 players in the NHL this year and each is doing pretty good, we also have some talented players on the roster and as a result they will likely be in most games and they will be fun to watch. However we are 1 and 5 and its just more of the SSDD or SSDY to be more exact. To that, I ask what did any of you really expect? I am at the point where I would like them to drop hockey and perhaps add men’s lacrosse and get a fresh start in something where we are not a doormat of the league. Let’s face it the new additions in the league like CT are likely going to be more successful than our program before you can blink and eye. Getting rid of JM won’t matter because the entire thought process and mantra of athletics at NU needs to be blown up and rebuilt from Goalie to AD.

I like how our one defensive problem is that we can't clear pucks or players that get right in front of the net and for some reason we refuse to change anything about the defense. Put in Barry and get rid of Schechter for the love of god.

Also why in the world is Mike Jamieson playing hockey.

??????? Schechter not responsible for a single goal this year. Do u watch the games? Other forwards not scoring, so try Jameson. Do u watch the games?????

Both TR and I have been at every game this year other than the Minnesota games. We probably pay closer attention to advanced stats than most who watch. So yes, we have "watched the games," and what we are seeing does not fall solely on Matt Benning nor give us any faith in Jake Schechter. Tell me, what does Schechter add to the team that warrants a spot in the lineup? He doesn't play on the PP or PK, so he certainly doesn't add value there. Does he pass well? Hit well? Break out of the defensive zone well? Shoot well? He can skate forward and that's about it. "Hasn't been responsible for a goal" isn't all that difficult when you're sitting on the third line playing 8 minutes a game. In 2+ years at NU he is responsible for all of 3 assists. 3. Three. 1+1+1. How does someone who cannot defend or pass or score be useful for the team? He is a glorified practice player who only gets minutes because Darou and Owens are hurt. Schechter should be an AHA regular, nothing more. Your crucifixion of Benning maligns a leader who has shown the ability to put points on the board AND prevent them for two whole seasons. A bad start to one year does not erase that, but it Schechter's "effectiveness" in minimal time for parts of three gets him praise. I'm at a loss of words trying to understand your dislike for Benning.

Both UVM goals to this point are soft. Scramble in front that NU can't clear (AGAIN) and then a 5 hole shot that any Juniors goalie can save. Derick's brutal season continues.

U and JM see the game the same way. First 3 lines O and first 2 lines D stink the ice up, so focus on changing up the 4th line O and 3rd line D. Classic. Hmmm. That should improve the results. A total shakeup is needed.

I see the game as play your best players because that gives you the best chance to win. In fantasy football it's called "start your studs" and don't overthink. Replacing Roy/ZAR/Kurker with Pond/Messa/Jameison to "shake things up" as you suggest would not hep the team. Put the best talent on the ice and let them figure it out, if they are D1 Hockey East level players, they will. Case and point, last year's start and mid season hot streak. Shake the lines up, sure. Why not? But to suggest we play kids who have never scored goals in MULTIPLE YEARS of college hockey over players that clearly belong, you lost me.

Does that post that just bailed Schechter out count as him not allowing a goal? Good thing I watch the games or I wouldn't have ever known about it.

That third goal was on Derick. Just like the second. Doesn't matter if Ray Bourque was on the ice. Defensemen cannot always help bad goalies

You can't be serious. Defensemen aren't magic machines that just take away the entire offense at will. They take away the most dangerous play and give the goalie the best chance to make a save. If the goalie doesn't save the easy play that isn't anybody else's fault. If I was the team I'd be ****ed that I just worked my *** off to win a game 3-0 or 3-1 and have nothing to celebrate right now. And that isn't because of what the defensemen did.

My God, I thought Rawlings graduated. As a Mets fan, I don't which error was worse: that 3rd goal or Daniel Murphy in the 8th inning. Derick seems like a nice kid...unfortunately I know a lot of nice kids who I wouldn't want playing goalie for us. For JM to not go with Ruck tonight is truly and utterly ridiculous. But hey, we have to make 15 happy right? After all he still hasn't scored.

Listen to JM''s comments after tonight's game and then listen to Sneddon's. Not hard to see who the real coach is.
