Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

As for the record against fellow MN teams...it is a combo of other teams getting better and some behind the scenes stuff at MN that I cannot comment on.

Well, can you point us to someone who can comment on them? It's a bit dull here waiting for the game.

I never leave early, either. But my wife has Lyme Disease (was bitten by a tick last summer) and she gets VERY tired. She was practically asleep and was very hungry. ...
Sorry to hear about your wife. That's nasty stuff; hope she recovers soon. But there were a lot of folks who were very tired and hungry by the end of the game. Aside from the lackluster effort, I didn't find any of the usual outrageously overpriced gourmet stuff. Just overpriced ordinary stuff like $4.25 hot dogs.

Many of them look at college hockey as a stepping stone to the NHL. Stay a year or two and move. They don't care like they used to.

Yup. The other schools are trying to build a good college hockey team with just a few NHL type talents. All four of the other MN schools bring a blue collar type attitude to the game that the goofs haven't had since 2002.

They had their share of players who could have left after last year but cared enough to return. Wasn't about not caring. Was about not performing when it mattered most.

Exactly, but it does raise the question: Why didn't they perform when it mattered most?

Because they are soft. That happens when you field a team of 90% entitled rich kids...

I ESPECIALLY cannot reveal that. Just gonna have to trust me that there are some things going on.

Raising a top hockey player these days has gotten so expensive that the vast majority of players across the U.S. and Canada probably fit that description.

Brent, don't be a tease.

Lucia is leaving? Guentzel is leaving? NCAA investigating? What else?

You can be well off without acting like you have a summer home in Nantucket.

no question about it but this is nothing new really

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

You don't have to be well off.

You just have to be content with spending most (all?) of your disposable income on hockey and taking your "vacations" at places where there are tournaments, prospects' camps and overnight road games. ;)

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Exactly. I don't think this Gopher team was any more entitled than other teams (besides their usual tArrogence of course)

I've thought the Gophers have shied away from getting the guys the come and go for one year. You see it in guys like Rau. From my reasoning this Gopher team just didn't have the chemistry of a title winner. It happens. I do think they are adjusting to the big 10 schedule and not having every single team gunning for them in their "game of the year". It's pretty comical to me that a team that won its conference and playoff is still a disappointment. Goph fans should be happy they even did those things because in Jan it looked like they'd miss the NCAA's.

To blame this flameout on old issues that program had seems silly to me.

I'm guessing you're talking about the rumor that Lucia will retire and Guentzel will take over for him as head coach?

I do put more stock into this rumor than I do the one about how Lucia was going to retire and become the Big 10 Hockey Commissioner a few years back.

I will say that is basically internet fodder gone amok.

All I *can* say is that there are problems behind the scenes.
