Northeast Regional: BC vs Denver, Lowell vs Mankato

Re: Northeast Regional: BC vs Denver, Lowell vs Mankato

The weekend is here and I can't wait to watch some hockey! Good luck everyone and I hope Minn St has cooled off a bit.
I'll be up there for the duration for UML so hopefully that means Sunday too.
Don't really know any of you other Riverhawk fans in real life but I'm sure I'll be nodding at a lot of Riverhawk gear haha.

On a side note, anyone else getting tired of all this hobey baker prediction stuff? Just give it to JG already and get it over with.

That's just newbie BC fans abandoning ship... Demko is a tremendous tender. If it weren't for the "unbeaten in our last thread" jinx from TonytheTiger he would still have a .987 sv% and a 0.257 GAA like he did up until that point.
Agreed. I'd be shocked if he didn't start.

Yes Olshansky should have shut down his blog in early January and said "see you next year, congrats to JG." It's kind of sad that he comes up with all these imaginary things like 'small BC system forward' and 'if he doesn't score this weekend, he won't be a big game player' even though well, ya know, he's a ridiculous big game player.

Yeah not sure why I even entertained this and gave it the time of day but...

In Beanpot, HE, & NCAA games he's averaged 1.6, 1.8, & 1.2 points per game

In 21 games of the above he's been held off the scoresheet 3 times.

As you said, sad.

Re: Northeast Regional: BC vs Denver, Lowell vs Mankato

The Mavericks will be without Defensemen Carter Foguth and Josh Nelson this weekend. Not a huge blow, as they did win the WCHA tournament last weekend without them, but something to note nonethless.

Well, Minnesota State hockey gets no love from the "experts" on ESPNU. In making their picks for the regionals, one picked Boston College and the other picked Lowell out of the northeast regional. When asked to pick their upset choice for the whole tournament, one picked Denver.

So, of the four teams in the northeast regional, only Minnesota State got no mention.

Not to go all Yogi Berra on you, but until you do it, you haven't done it. We won't get picked to win stuff until we've won stuff.

Interestingly, the northeast was the only regional with any variability. They're all over union, wisco, minny. I'm shocked at their love for wisco.

Wisconsin was being pushed big time by ESPN last year as the "hot" team. Then the ran into Lowell and were dismantled in the first game of the regional 6-1. It was laughable.

I'm definitely shocked at how much love their nuts are getting. The B1G love affair is in full force!

Good. Flying under the radar is better anyways.

Earlier this week, Erik Haula said that he'd bet every cent he has on Lowell to beat the Mavs.

Are you suggesting that what tv pundits and fans think is going to somehow influence how Lowell approaches this game? Like, because some guy says Minnesota State has no shot, that Lowell is going to look past this game?

What a silly notion.

Re: Northeast Regional: BC vs Denver, Lowell vs Mankato

I'm sure that no Mavericks player is terribly concerned with what a former Gopher player thinks.

Re: Northeast Regional: BC vs Denver, Lowell vs Mankato

So how many Maverick and Pioneer fans made the trip out? How many are local?

Was I not the one earlier in this thread that stated it's foolish to do think that?

Players do read social media and look around to see what is said. It's part of the world we live in now, and teams in all sports have said it's just a simple reminder of motivation and that a group of guys embrace being "under the radar".
