North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

the regionals are dull and dry. I don't think it's crazy that UND/UMN didn't sell out a 5 pm game on a Sunday.
The game was to go to the Frozen Four and one of my favorite games I've ever been to. Not exactly dull and dry and if the two teams were to meet again this year in the same scenario, it'd be a hell of a game. In front of 10,000 people because of the ticket prices.

I like how the trophy is a bit of a departure from others with it being wood. Pretty sharp looking.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

If h e l l freezes over and the Gophers are not victorious ( I know, right? ) on Friday, would they play the afternoon or evening game on Saturday? My uber cool boss gave me a pair of tickets for Friday, and has since scored me a pair for Saturday, again his treat. Getting there for a Saturday afternoon tilt may get dicey for me, although he DID offer to stay late and let me go in the event that the Gophers play early... ALSO, does a ticket for either day get you into both games that day??? Thanks!

The ticket will get you into both games each day. Friday's winners play at 7 pm. The losers play at 4 pm.

It's a straight tournament. Third place game is at 4, championship is at 7 regardless of Friday's results.

Wasn't the Mariucci Classic a straight tournament? The championship game was at like 3pm.

Do you need a tissue?

What did we agree to you about posting in this thread?

It is gonna be a pretty empty building on that first game at 4 pm on Friday...but as the night goes on the place should fill up.

Mariucci Classic wasn't, and never has been, a conventional tournament. The Gophers always play in the late game for that tournament. The Ice Breaker was a conventional tournament (had the Gophers lost, they would have played the early game on Saturday) and so is this.

Psst....every Final Five ever....

Just playing devil's advocate. I have a point. So the two winners seriously play on Saturday evening even if it's not Minnesota?

Speaking of which...what happens if the semi final games go into OT? Does anyone know? I would guess 5 minute overtime and then a shootout... The 3rd place and championship games would probably have 20 minute overtimes.

Not disputing your point on the Final Five. Just pointing out that the Mariucci Classic isn't advertised as a conventional tournament. Teams know coming in that the Gophers play the late game regardless. And that is driven by the TV networks far more than it is by the Gophers. Being that it's Minnesota's holiday tourney, I don't think it's as big of a deal for the Mariucci Classic as it was for the Final Five.

You are correct, winners play the late game for this tourney regardless of the matchup.

Good question. Not sure on that. I just hope they don't use shoot outs.

Same guess here except on the 3rd place game.
