Hey, anything could happen. They play the games for a reason. The Gophers have the ability to defeat anyone, no doubt. They haven't given me much reason to think they'll beat #1 though. Not at all.

You must be blue-line club. I heard they got lower bowl, while us regular peons got upper.

That first game against UMD in the home-and-home is the only time MN has been thumped this year. Maybe you could throw the Friday night against St. Cloud in there too, but the play on the ice was closer than the score indicated.
I'm definitely not expecting a MN win this Friday, but I am expecting a close game.

For Minnesota, Fridays game is probably the most important game of the season, I hope they play like it. When they bring it they can beat anyone, but we haven't seen much of that this year. Looking forward to the games.

Then they're pretty much out of the NCAA's. You better hope they find a way to win.

First game: UMTC Duluth beats the Beav at a clip of about 5-2. Second game: UM beats Mankato 4-3 in a nice, chippy affair. Game 3 sees Mankato and the Beavers tied 2-2 going into the third. The Beavers have a really bad period as Kato explodes on them to the tune of 4 goals, final 6-2. In the title game, UM comes back in the third to beat UMTC Duluth 5-4. Then, besides 3 days of crying and gnashing of butthurt fans over a phantom/missed call or some perceived cheap shot, all will be right with the world, except for a borderline dismal attendance, for which numerous Gopher fans will have a boatload of excuses, giving Dirty just the inroad he expects, reminding us all how much better the final five was with the Sioux and englestead east blah blah. I will be at Fridays tilts. I'll be the one with, according to my 7 year old, a big face, a big head and big buttcheeks. Go Gophers!

I don't see this weekend going well for the Gophers. I see a MSU/UMD final but I would love to be wrong. Trying to decide if I should watch the Friday night game in the bar up at Mille Lacs or if I should just listen on the radio and hope for the best...?

Does anyone know if you can leave and return between games? I have only 1 ticket for each day and was wondering if I'll be able to hit West 7th or if I'm stuck paying for expensive arena food and beverages...

I seem to remember that last year you could NOT leave, but my night time activities can mess with my memory.I would imagine more of the same this year.

Be aware that you might have trouble getting into any places, especially on Saturday. The Winter Carnival is going on, as is Crashed Ice that night.

Will be like the year the Final Five was on St Patty's day, that was crazy at the bars (but a blast too) it was 10-15 deep to get a brew at most places.

Just go out the smoking door, get a hand stamp, and retain your ticket. You'll be able to get back in the same door no problem.

Not a lot of time between games, 45 minutes tops - maybe enough for a beer (if you get waited on right away) and want to be back in time to see the opening faceoff of the second game.

I see a Gopher split this weekend either way. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a win against MSU. MN is dangerous (an odd thing to say about a team returning from an NC game). But I could also see them lay an egg next weekend at UW.
