As for the checking from behind, you clearly don't know the rule book. There is a two minute penalty for HITTING from behind that can be called.

This is completely false. You could have called boarding or a two minute minor for HITTING from behind.

Uh, no. You don't know what you're talking about.

You can only call hitting from behind as a minor if it's open ice. If you hit someone from behind into the boards, it's a major. End of story.

Boarding specifically states it has to be from in front or the side.

If you'd rather the ref just ignored the rules, then fine that's your opinion. But by the rules they called it exactly the way they're supposed to.
