NMU @ Ohio State - Oh How I Hate.... Noon Starts?

Re: NMU @ Ohio State - Oh How I Hate.... Noon Starts?

Virgins are overrated, you'll just spend your whole time trying to convince them that it's fun and reassuring them that things are perfectly normal. ;)
I say put them in the front row so we can all get a good laugh when they jump anytime a puck or body hits the glass in front of them!

Re: NMU @ Ohio State - Oh How I Hate.... Noon Starts?

I was just shocked considering that we've played playoff games against you in tOSU Ice Rink before... I think the Schott was booked for the Ohio HS State Wrestling meet or something like that... Just really surprised at a Noon start... Talk about playing in front of nobody... This is going to be an AIC like crowd :( Just have the game at 7 and pack the Ice Arena...
The wrestling event you mentioned is OSU has a long term contract with the Ohio High School Athletic Association to hold the state wrestling tournament in the Schott. It usually coincides with the first round of the CCHA playoffs and if we finish high enough to host they bump the guys back to the old barn which is limited to 800-900 capacity by the Fire Marshall’s orders. Some fans enjoy the nostalgic aspect of it but the team has always hated and been insulted by it. It’s all about the money and hockey fans here aren’t the big money donors football boosters are so the team gets little consideration when there’s a buck to be made. You know, if the NCAA was really about protecting the integrity of college sports they would not allow a university to displace their own team for a high school event!

Re: NMU @ Ohio State - Oh How I Hate.... Noon Starts?

Ugh. My first game in 5 years to see an NMU game live and what an utter disappointment. Stupid penalties, very few creative chances at the net...heck, barely ANY action on the net. 13 shots!? Are you kidding? Just throwing the puck on net would have at least given them 1 or 2 more quality chances. Instead, they just tried to find the perfect pass every time, and failed.
Ellingson stood on his head at times, but really lucked out by giving up some ugly rebounds.
Did I mention STUPID penalties?! 31 PMs

I was waiting for Trevor Janicki, Curtis Sheptak, and Dean Seymour to show up on the ice with the way they were playing.

Regardless, it was fun to be back in a rink, although, I think we hosted parties on Bluff St. in college with more people. At least my buddy and I entertained the people around us with all our NMU-based chants and cheers.

Spikechiquet ... glad you had a good time despite the score. With only 1,500 and change at this game, they may as well have played this at the OSU Ice Rink at a normal time (ie. 7:00). If this team keeps playing the way they are playing, hopefully fans will show up. I'm still baffled at the hockey fans in Columbus paying $50 a seat to set in the upper deck at Nationwide Arena to watch the CBJ, but they won't pay the $11 to see this OSU team. Historically, though, the crowds are normally below average while it's still football season. I like the direction Coach Oz is taking our program in.
