Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

On the Jade Helm topic... Gawker had a story yesterday on the Picasso of Flaggy's community. Actually, the guy's work is pretty awful as far as quality goes, but the story is a pretty good one. My favorite is that he moved to Sweden to get away from the tyrannical government, then felt the CIA was onto him in Sweden so he moved back to the US to live in Oregon. I guess the government leaves Oregonians to themselves.

Great article. The Comments are good, too.

A flying saucer just landed on the street outside my office. Now, you don't know this is something that actually happened, due to the fact I did not provide a link. You should still try to vet this story yourself, and it is up to everyone else to do the same as well.

That wasnt a flying saucer...the Bildenburgs and Dr. Day just want you to BELIEVE it was! You dont know how far this truly goes

James Holmes has been found guilty of the Aurora theater shootings.

Next phase is sentencing, life in prison or death penalty.

This thread is Pio's home, and he hasn't been here in like 3 months? Seriously worried about the old sourpuss.

Is there a way for the Mods to check his last log in? In all honesty it is a little worrying. Anybody know him after hours?

Did the Aurora shooter have a manifesto?

I read the one by the Santa Barbara shooter and it was quite fascinating. That one was one helluva ride to the depths of a depressed and twisted mind.

Not really, though I read some of the court testimony.

The tl;dr is he thought he was worthless and believed killing people would add to his self-worth. The basic thought that if he killed someone, he absorbed their value in/from society to his own worth. He even had a "points" system for how many/which people he could kill. He picked a midnight showing to avoid killing children, but still got one and kinda went "eh, it happened."

I'm torn on reading manifestos - on the one hand you don't want to give the guy the attention he's seeking after what he did, on the other it's good to know how he got where he was mentally.

Same here.

The Unibomber's manifesto is very unsettling, because it weaves in and out of Crazytown so effortlessly. One minute he's trying to lay out a historo-sociological theory that would not raise eyebrows if you tossed it in with Simmel, Sorokin, or Spengler, and the next minute it's time for the Chlorpromazine.
