Also, most ISIS terrorists are Muslim. (examples of the name of a religion used as a socially acceptable networking tool to further an agenda)

I'm not the one saying you have to believe in heaven and hell to be good.

I know, I was just trying to point out that "robber barons : Christianity :: terrorists : Islam" The religion obviously isn't the driving force behind the terrible things they were doing, so it's irrelevant in the conversation about the crimes.

The robber barons had a bizarro-world version of Prosperity Christianity (the richer you are the more Baby Jesus loves you) that they used to justify themselves like AQ et al. hijack Islam for their own purposes. The analogy is not perfect, but it's not categorically wrong.

Yup. Even when it gets thrown out, it doesn't change the fact that these morons thought it was a good idea in the first place. When will the tea baggers get over the whole gay hating and immigrant hating bull ****? Seriously, if you support this party you should have your head examined.
So it's wrong for others to be intolerant but it is ok for you to use what many recognize as a gross sexual innuendo. Talk about offensive! The correct term is tea partier. Practice what you preach.

They're tea baggers. That's what THEY wanted to be called.

Feb. 27, 2009
At the first anti-stimulus "New American Tea Party" rally in Washington D.C., a protestor carries a sign reading "Tea Bag the Liberal Dems before they Tea Bag You!!" The Washington Independent's David Weigel calls it "the best sign I saw."

March 2
Americans for Prosperity, an anti-tax group, is one of the first Tea Party organizations to advocate sending tea bags to elected officials to protest the stimulus package. Several other lobby groups follow suit.

April 1
Several Tea Party protest sites encourage readers to "Tea bag the fools in DC." Jay Nordlinger at National Review Online later admits: "Conservatives started [using the term]... but others ran and ran with it."

Intolerance and offending delicate sensibilities. Yep, same thing.

Yeah, it's really the same thing. Passing discriminatory laws and mocking a group of homophobic racist nutjobs by using a name they game themselves.

You can 100% be intolerant towards intolerant people.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

You can 100% be intolerant towards intolerant people.

That may be a fine sentiment in general, however there is no credible evidence that Tea Party people are intolerant people. A few left-wing newspapers published parodies under the guise of news and gullible people then bought into them. Every claim of intolerance supposedly performed by the Tea Party was subsequently discredited.

In life, there are a few extreme people associated with any widespread movement. If a mentally disturbed black person enters a synagog with a knife and starts stabbing people while saying "kill the Jews" is he supposed to be representative of all black people's attitude toward Jews?

There is a group of people who, when they are uncomfortable about something being said, rather than respond to the substance, instead work overtime to demonize the speaker. I can understand that the Tea Party, just like Occupy Wall Street, raises some challenging questions to entrenched powers. Rather than respond to those challenges directly, in both cases the movements were exaggerated, and then subjected to ridicule. Or, a few crazies who happened to come along for the ride and were not in any way representative, were instead held out as "typical", again so that the substance of the criticisms could then be ignored.

If you claim that intolerance is wrong, to then be intolerant in turn seems, well, you pick a word for it. "contradictory" is one of the more neutral ones that occurs to me.
