The grand jury verdict in the Darren Wilson case will be announced this afternoon. The governor has scheduled a 4PM meeting with local clergy, which should give you an idea of what that verdict will be.

Try to keep it civil in here.

Does anyone honestly think he'll get indicted? Even the people in Ferguson know he won't.

I don't know, but hopefully right now there are leaders explaining to the people of Ferguson that the racists want them to riot.

I never understand rioters, anyway. Don't burn your own stuff; at least go one town over and burn the rich people's stuff!

Americans are so dumb we can't even do street violence correctly.

I think they've known it all along, problem is you get like 30 people looting and the media focuses on them exclusively.

I assume the national media narrative will be insanely racist; that's a given. Screw them; there's a reason I don't watch the networks.

As to what matters: the actual situation on the ground where people can get hurt, if it's 30 people looting and the cops go after those 30 people that's fine -- that's what it means "to protect and serve." I worry that 30 people will loot and the cops will declare open season and treat the locals like Fallujah. That's when lots of people get badly hurt. (And of course you know who will get blamed.)

The County Police Department sent out a tweet asking people to donate Gatorade, DayQuil and other stuff to help officers who are on extended duty.

1) Why not just ask the local drug dealers for uppers? That's practically what DayQuil is anyway.
2) Don't we pay taxes so the police department can provide these things and they don't have to beg from the public?

ETA: And that's just what we need. Police armed like they're in Iraq, high on stimulants. What could go wrong?

(1) College Hockey Info?
(2) A Grand Jury does not convict. It decides if the DA presented enough information that the defendent (?) should be indicted. Deciding not to indict does not mean guilt or innocence.

I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell he gets indicted. I don't even think I think he should be indicted. Glad it's not my decision.

In the same way that every black person isn't defined by their blackness, every cop isn't evil scum. It's the exact same mentality. You can't say racism is wrong but all police must die. People are just people. I happen to know some cops that are some of the best people I know.

A story like this is even more Twilight Zone, since half the people defending Wilson aren't even defending him as a cop, but just because the shooting victim was black. Make the victim a white guy with a Palin bumper sticker and those same people are screaming about Gubmint Conspiracy and calling for Wilson to be roasted on a spit.

That of course doesn't mean everybody defending Wilson is a racist. Just that the Usual Suspects are out there rabble rousing on this like they do on everything else.

School has already been canceled in Ferguson tomorrow.

This will be part Fallujah, part The Purge and part Mississippi Burning.
