Re: NHL Playoffs 2013 - Walruses, Trolls and other assorted creatures.

Canada seems to have trouble staying classy...

Montreal fans booing the anthem a few years ago before a game against Boston.

Fans booing our anthem during the WJC.

Vancouver fans just being themselves.

Now this.

Stay classy Canada.

When do we get to the part where the Internet finds out every shred of his identity and turns his life upside down?

Because that part is funny.

I say, let the site that shall not be named find him, turn him over to some Boston Southies, with one rule: Can't kill him.

I'd be fine with that.

Hell, leave him in Toronto.

Their first playoff series in God knows how long, and he's going to be the lasting image of it.

I've stated my feelings about the ONE idiot with a sign, but your comment swings both ways. Having said that, most fans of both sides are respectful of the other side.

Boston sports fans can be notoriously tough, but one went way too far on Saturday night, knocking a Maple Leafs fan unconscious with a sucker punch.

Kyle Hay, of Oshawa, attended Game 2 in Beantown with six buddies to celebrate his 23rd birthday as well as Toronto’s return to the playoffs.

Garbed in a mask, blue Mohawk and Wendel Clark jersey, Hay, like his friends, was heckled throughout the contest — eventually won 4-2 by the Leafs.

“We had peanuts thrown at us, beer and cups thrown at us. The Boston fans that were in our area were totally cool, they were telling those people to stop because they were also being hit by it all,” Hay recalled on Monday.

Though he doesn’t remember anything after getting up from his seat when the game concluded, while leaving the arena, Hay got separated from his pals in a stairwell and was hit in the back of the head with a punch, knocking him out cold.

I agree with you on this. One fan, no, one idiot in Toronto doesn't mean that all Canadians are like that. But the Habs and Cansucks really try to make you feel like that is the norm and not the exception.

Edit: Is there no way to do a strike through any more on the board?

Nothing I cited was made up.

Canada's inferiority complex towards the U.S. seems to manifest itself amongst hockey fans up there and often presents itself in ugly ways.

This is odd as hockey is probably the one area where they are actually superior. Hard to explain.

Read TSN sometime if you think I'm just making stuff up. There's a pervasive undercurrent of nationalism, provincialism and animosity.

And of course I know they're not all like that. Does that even need to be pointed out?

who needs regionalization and natural rivals?!?!
campbell conference

...

patrick
islanders
philadelphia
atlanta
rangers

...
I could do without Atlanta.

Edit to add: come to think of it, I mean that in general as well as specifically with reference to sports and to this division. Who needs it?

Bring back the Adams Division!

Boston Bruins
Buffalo Sabres
Carolina Hurricanes (since Hartford no longer exists)
Colorado Avalanche (since Quebec no longer exists)
Montreal Canadiens
Ottawa Senators

Throw those Maple Q****s back to the Norris Division.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013 - Walruses, Trolls and other assorted creatures.

The Isles-Pens series is agonizing.

Isles: Work and work and work, outhit Pittsburgh, outhustle Pittsburgh, then after a monumental effort, score.

Pens: Oh, ****. Guys . . . We need another one. Who's up? Kunitz? Kunitz scores.

Tavares says hai. This series is bananas.

Things getting feisty after that goal.

Seems like the past few years, we get one of these series where the teams forget that this is 2013 and hockey plays defense now.
