- Smith looks a lot like he did in his first season and a half in Madison. For every brilliant offensive play he'll have an equally horrible defensive lapse. I still remember one time where he made a horrible neutral zone play that led to a great chance for whoever the Badgers were playing and Oz was standing at the door staring holes through Brenden's skull as he skated over for a change. Burned in my mind as Oz looked so incredibly disgusted and angry at Smith.
His play to get the puck off the boards to Miller in the first was brilliant. He obviously had a rough third. If he figures it all out at this level, he could be special. Hopefully he waits till next year to figure it all out.
Smith had stretches like that all three years he was in Madison. His lack of consistancy (among other things) is why he didn't leave sooner and why he spent so much time in the AHL, particularly considering he was a 1st round pick.
I remember his final season fondly, but could have that mixed up.
He drove me nuts at first though.
Early reports are that for some reason the NHL wants to start the WCF first, so they will go Friday night and Pittsburgh-Boston won't start until Saturday night in Pittsburgh. That means Games 3 and 4 in Boston would be Wednesday-Friday. Glad I didn't buy the vastly overpriced ticket from the Bruins when they became available on Sunday.

Rolling Stones in Chicago Friday night. If the Hawks win then we will see a Saturday DH with the WCF in the afternoon (TSN/NBC) and the ECF in the evening (CBC/NBCSN), otherwise the West starts Friday.
This from piecing together tweets from Bob (TSN) and Eliot Freidman (CBC)
That's enormous!

Sounds like Sakic needs to pay Vernon to punch Roy's lights out again. The Dives need a franchise defenseman - Erik Johnson and Ty Barrie could be decent #2/#3s, but they can't be the backbone. They can worry about dealing with their forward situation after they draft Seth Jones.
One aspect of tonight's game I find interesting is that each team has in goal a player who has won the Stanley Cup. I don't have a rooting interest in the game, but I hope there are no garbage goals. Good shots, clean winners for goals.
