Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

Looks a wee bit chilly in Lansdowne Park. Old time hockey!

I'd be curious how the temp compares to the Alumni game at Comerica when Det/Tor played. THAT was a frigid, bone chilling day.

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

I think they had the graphic that said the WC at the big house was -11C, but the alumni game seemed worse than that.

-13C (8F) in the third period last night. Toronto Sun reports it was the coldest outdoor game since temps hit -30C in the 2003 Heritage Classic in Edmonton --- and that was in the afternoon!

Did the Islanders just not f-ck something up?

Mass transit wise, do they open up the Belmont Station on game days? IIRC the station is only open when the horses are running.

They're putting in a whole enormous complex and I assume they will also redo the station and have regular service. Parking is going to be interesting. They'll need to redo the roads, too.

I hate public financing but I don't pay taxes there so f-ck em. It's Nassau County anyway -- place could use some sprucing up; it looks like northern New Jersey now.

Then it must be a Garden spot.

Exit 171 on the GSP. Hang a left at the exit, right at the light, and a left just past Dick Nixon's office and you'll be in my old neighborhood.

There are some lovely spots in New Jersey.

There are some lovely spots in Nassau County.

But neither region is known for them.

6 is a joke for a repeat offender who commits an offense not even tangentially related to hockey.

Paul Bissonette had a good bit to say about it the night it happened. Some interesting perspective from somebody who has been in those shoes a bunch of times.

Given the usual "wheel of Justice" gifts, 6 is probably about what I would have expected.

Auston with a beauty for his first goal in Phoenix, Leafs with three in 2 1/2 minutes and lead 3-1 in the first.

Marner with a beauty and 2 perfect passes to Marleau. Nylander with a 1 and 1.

The kids are back and the Leafs are gonna party!

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

See! The NHL *could* have played in the Olympics. Just end the regular season in January!

Barys fire head coach Evgeny Koreshkov.

Team is 10th in the East with 9 games left in regular season (5 points to the playoffs).

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

The Capitals should do something similar before the playoffs:
@SlavaMalamud: KHL news. Barys Astana, for whatever reason, decided to have a traditional Kazakh ritual before a practice. It involves slaughtering a sheep. Right on the ice. The blood was sprinkled over the goal to make it magic or something. @sportexpress reports, foreign players got sick
