Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

HOF asks for Scott's helmet.

HOFer....John Scott. Eat it, Herr Bettman.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

That was such a fun watch.

They would have been hard pressed to script it much better.

An instant classic and likely the most (only) memorable all star game of our time.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

He would have reached (relative) rock star status just by scoring that first goal.

I mean... who could expect more than that? Including him.

Oh no... fate and destiny had a different plan.

This should be a Disney movie. :D

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Apparently, the league offered 3 choices for the fan vote for MVP and guess who wasn't one of the choices?

Sorry NHL, this isn't your story to write and you can't tell us what we want.

Scott won again through the equivalent of a write-in.

My son found a t-shirt online that says "John Scott - the People's Captain."

Might need one of those.

Let's put it this way. I have a Wild jersey, unlettered. Got it in the first year of their existence. Wanted a true player, a workhorse, someone who wasn't a star, per se. Boogey was a finalist to make the jersey....but after this? Gotta give it to Scott. He will be on that jersey.

I think even years from now with the benefit of hindsight, you will view that decision as extremely solid.

He went legend, not just today but with the grace and humor that he handled the entire situation.

Couldn't happen to a better guy with a bigger, goofier smile.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

This whole situation is a microcosm of the NHL: Succeeding in spite of themselves.

The Coyotes are the biggest losers. Imagine the marketing possibilities from this for them? Could've made an impact in Arizona. Instead they get nothing but to further wallow in their own incompetence.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Incredible story. Here's a Sundance 2017 preview: The John Scott Story, starring John as himself.
edit: I see Gurt thought of that first, with Disney production cred. :)

Yeah, when you look back at all the publicity for this thing and the way they handled John Scott at this event, it is obvious to me that he got traded because someone high up in the Coyotes didn't want him representing them at the All-Star game.

Who ever came to that conclusion and anyone that allowed that to happen within the Coyotes lost big time today.

Yeah, think about a potential Coyotes season ticket holder seeing this. They gotta be thinking "if this how they treat one of their players, how are they gonna treat me?" What a bunch of idiots in that organization, John Scott could've been wearing Coyotes logos through this whole thing. And now they get what deserve: Absolutely nothing.

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

I imagine their marketing department is going to send some nasty emails Monday to their front office

Re: NHL 2015-16: John Scott for MVP!

Was I the only one thinking that Bettman looked like he could be mistaken for a snack when he was presenting the check to John Scott?

I went to sleep with a pretty good sized smile at how this chapter ended up happening. How could you not, if you're a true hockey fan. Just awesome stuff all around, including Burns and Pavelski getting Scott up on their shoulders.
